In a small village, a poor boy named Hasan lived with his mother in a tiny broken house. The roof leaked when it rained, and the cold wind came through the walls. Hasan's father had died years ago, leaving his mother alone to raise him. 🌧️
Every morning before the sun rose, Hasan woke up and went to the market. He carried a small basket and collected empty bottles and scraps to sell. Some days he earned just enough money to buy a little rice. Some days he earned nothing.
But Hasan had one big dream — he wanted to go to school.
Every day he walked past a school building. He would stop near the gate and quietly watch the children in clean uniforms reading books and laughing together. 📚
One day a teacher noticed him standing outside.
The teacher gently asked, "Why do you stand here every day?"
Hasan looked down and said softly, "I want to study… but my mother cannot afford it. I have to work so we can eat."
The teacher felt a deep pain in his heart.
That evening Hasan went home with only a small piece of bread. When he entered the house, he saw his mother sitting quietly.
She smiled and said, "Did you eat today?"
Hasan lied and said, "Yes, I already ate at the market."
But the truth was he was very hungry.
His mother broke the bread into two pieces and gave the bigger piece to Hasan.
Hasan's eyes filled with tears. He pushed the bread back to her and said, "You eat, Ma. I already ate."
Both of them were lying to protect each other.
They sat there silently, pretending they were not hungry. Finally, his mother hugged him tightly and cried.
She whispered, "One day, my son… you will study and have a better life than this."
Years later, people in the village saw a young man returning in clean clothes with books in his hand.
It was Hasan.
Someone had helped him continue his education. He studied hard and became a teacher.
The first thing he did was open a small free school for poor children — especially for the ones who stood outside the school gate like he once did.
And every time he saw a hungry child, he remembered that small piece of bread his mother tried to give him.
Because sometimes the biggest love in the world is when two hungry people pretend they are not hungry… just to feed each other. 💔
