POWER SYSTEM: THE COVENANT OF WILL

Core Concept — Resonance

In this world, power doesn't come from bloodlines or mana circuits. It comes from the soul's ability to resonate with the world's fabric — the invisible lattice of reality that underlies everything. Scholars call it the Weave.

Every living person has a soul. But only those whose souls are strong enough, clear enough, or defined enough can push their will outward and make the Weave respond.

This is why talent is not about having more power — it's about how purely and deeply your soul can imprint itself onto reality.

A weak soul whispers. A strong soul commands. A cursed soul screams into silence.

The Seven Tiers

Each tier has a title, a what it means, and a visible marker — something other trained practitioners can sense or see when they encounter someone of that rank.

Tier 1 — Stirring"The soul wakes." The practitioner becomes aware of the Weave for the first time. They can feel it but barely touch it. Most common people never even reach this point. Academy entrance requires at minimum late Stirring. Visible marker: None to untrained eyes. Experts feel a faint warmth when close.

Tier 2 — Imprint"The soul leaves a mark." The practitioner can push their will outward in small, controlled bursts. Combat ability becomes real. Runes can be inscribed with personal resonance. The average knight graduates academy at this tier. Visible marker: A faint outline of pressure — like heat shimmer — around the hands during exertion.

Tier 3 — Carving"The soul cuts into the world." The practitioner's will begins to permanently alter their surroundings during combat. Physical abilities sharpen dramatically. Scholar-runemages at this tier can inscribe self-sustaining enchantments. Noble heirs are expected to reach this before adulthood. The MC in the original timeline never surpassed early Tier 2 — an embarrassment for a Duke's heir. Visible marker: Eyes briefly illuminate with a faint inner light during peak exertion.

Tier 4 — Resonance"The soul and the world begin to speak the same language." A true threshold. Practitioners at this tier are considered elite. The hero enters academy already near this tier — which is why everyone worships him. Reaching Tier 4 before twenty is considered prodigious. Visible marker: A faint silhouette — a second outline of the self — briefly appears when power is released.

Tier 5 — Sovereign"The soul declares dominion." Rare. Those who reach Sovereign are national assets. Their will can reshape matter, suppress weaker souls passively just by presence, and their resonance becomes semi-permanent — they carry a faint aura at all times. The MC's father is believed to be mid-Sovereign. The villainess's family has produced one Sovereign in three generations. Visible marker: A constant, faint pressure that others feel when within range. Like standing near something heavy that cannot be seen.

Tier 6 — Undying"The soul refuses to be erased." Fewer than a dozen exist in the known world at any given time. At this tier, the soul begins to leave permanent impressions on the world even after death — locations where an Undying died or trained are measurably altered centuries later. The Church claims its founding saint was Undying. The hero is destined to reach this. The MC, post-curse-break, is the only person in recorded history with the natural potential to reach it without a destined role. Visible marker: The air around them distorts slightly at all times. Weaker practitioners feel instinctive unease.

Tier 7 — Unwritten"The soul exists outside the Weave's authority." Theoretical. No confirmed living example in any record. The World itself is believed to operate at something adjacent to this tier — which is exactly why it suppressed the MC. An Unwritten soul doesn't just resonate with the Weave. It rewrites it. The higher beings that cursed the MC feared this outcome. Visible marker: Unknown. Scholars theorize that an Unwritten would simply not appear to the senses of anyone below Undying — as if reality itself refused to acknowledge them until it had no choice.
