Chapter 20 - A Gacha isn't a Bad Addition Pt3 (Bonus-100 collections)

The Vulture Devil took off again, this time far more cautious than the last time. It was learning, learning my attack pattrns, learning critical information. Sure, it had a bottleneck on how much information it could grasp with the small ass brain of its, but it was learning nonetheless.

That did not mean that I was sut there, stare at it and cheer it on.

So I did what I had to.

I gave it no time to adapt.

No sooner had it moved towards the right, that I rushed towards it again, focused and lethal. I slashed downwards in an arc, but it dodged, trying to meet my blade with its talons.

As you might or mightnot have guessed, that didn't go too well for it. It screeched, a nasty lump of severed claws and talons falling to the ground.

I tried not to gag, and decided that torturing this thing might not actually be worth the gore. It might just be better to end this cleanly.

But Polly here wasn't letting me do that. Like most creatures, its instincts were kicking and rather than involving itself in an "honourable" battle to the death, it was torn between flight or fight.

So obviously it picked flight.

I narrowed my eyes. Chasing an ugly, bald, overgrown bird halfway through Shinjuku wasn't exactly my idea of fun. Then again, us demigods don't get to choose a career path.

"Oh no, you don't, darling." I supplied more mana, and rushed towards the Vulture Devil, already decided to end this in a couple of quick exchanges. Forget the blade, I could this out on someone else later.

And just as I was about incise a precise cut through its underbelly, it vanished.

I blinked, before rechecking my surroundings. Somehow the bird which had been less than a metre away from my blade a millisecond ago was now at least 20 feet above me.

And I had not raised my height at all.

What happened? I wondered. Does this week ass piece of shit now have Instant Transmission?

[Hohoho! That's why you should never underestimate your opponent!] The system chuckled. [Who knows, this thing might just be a lot stronger than you think!]

"Might I remind you that it was the skill that YOU gave me which said this thing was weaker than my last opponent? So if you're saying this is stronger, you're basically calling YOURSELF a fraud."

[DID YOU JUST CALL ME A FRAUD?!]

Did you even hear a word of what I said?

I would have gladly argued a lot more and increased my man's overall intelligence. Unfortunately, at that exact second, the bird started to fly southwards, away from the battlefield. Not good.

So I followed it again, convinced that whatever one trick pony move it had used was not going to escape my vision this time.

Spoiler alert: it did.

I just blinked for less than a second, and hey, I was in Sprint, so even if I did, that shouldn't have made a difference.

But it did. Somehow, I was behind where it's legs would have been, if they were, you know, present.

And suddenly it was another couple of feet above in the air, readying itself for a nose dive.

But my eyes had already picked out what was happening.

I see.

A speed based technique.

Hmm.That's pretty useful. I get how it was able to evade all my actual attacks after I cut off it's legs. It must have gone on overtime to escape with its life.

But there's still something I haven't been able to completely break down yet.

I frowned as I noticed something odd about it. It's clearly attempting to fly away and escape from me and yet it hasn't done that yet. Why?

With its movement based ability, it could've fled the scene a long time ago. So why didn't it?

Could it be... that his ability has a weakness?

[Oh, gee no, dear boy! It means he likes double cappuccino with extra foam!]

Moving on, I replayed it's moments in my mind. I analysed every move it took and read it like a book. A theory bagan to bloom in my mind and I was 99% sure that I was right. But I needed a demonstration. One last demonstration.

So I hurled myself at it, yelling curses and battle cries while waving about my sword wildly.

Naturally, it panicked. And as it panicked, it used it's one hit technique again, appearing exactly 30 meters away from me.

I grinned. Gotcha.

[Would you please elaborate, genius?]

With pleasure. One thing I saw right off the bat is that it wasn't running. Why? Because I was in its way.

But it could've still maneuvered around me, right? It could've looped the loop, threaded the needle, you know, all acrobatics stuff. But I'd didn't.

Why?

Because it couldn't.

And my last move confirmed that.

So when it left, I used Sprint. As fast as it was, I could be faster. It took me a shit ton of mana, but I got there.

I catapulted myself above its head, and started at it while upside down. It tried The Move again, but I slashed down.

"Hey," I muttered, blindly grasping in my mind for last words it as a legendary opponent would hear before the reaper took it away. "You were never really Flappy Bird."

And that was when I sliced it into half.

I know, I know. Eww. I shouldn't have been that gruesome.

But at this point, that was the only choice I had.

Besides, I was quite proud of myself for beating a Devil, even if it was a D ranked one, with just a sword that I made.

Besides, it had still broken my scythe. No matter what it did, it couldn't get away with that with a quick, easy death. I needed to set an example to nothing like that would ever happen again.

[You have defeated the Vulture Devil!]

[You have leveled up!]

[You have claimed Bounty of Vulture Devil!]

[You have gained 18,000 gold!]

I crashlanded on the ground, too tired to do anything else, even look where I was crashlanding, which unfortunately turned out to be a Toyota. "Ow."

[Ow? Ow?! SO THAT'S ALL YOU SAY POST YOUT VICTIRY AGAINST POLLY THE CRACKER?]

"You should really shut up, you know." I had scarcely provided this guy with this life changing information, that Mr Dude here came running up to me. "Aizen san, daijobu desu ka?!"(AN- for non Japanese speakers who don't know the basic amount an anime fan should know, it means "Are you fine?" or "Is everything alright?")

"Daijobu daijobu, Dude san." I managed to heave myself out of the roof of the car and barely saved myself from falling at his feet, my knees saving me at the last moment. "But man does my back hurt."

[Um, I'm pretty sure his name's not Dude.]

Who cares?

[That's the spirit, baby! That's how Aizen should be! Although that doesn't stop you from being a cheap Aldi ripoff...]

Hey! I'm improvising! That's how a true brainiac should be!

The man, or dude, whatever, then bowed respectfully, and (is that real? Am I dominating?) with a bit of fear. "Of course! I'll get paramedics right away-"

"No need for that." I cut coldly. "You know a good coffee shop? Go bring me a mocha."

"Hai!" Dude gave one last bow, before rushing off to find a coffee shop in the ruins of some building. I think I'm warning up to him.

But now for the more important question, I slumped against the car and slid down with no one to defend the dignity of Aizen against. Why did the Guillotine Devil want this guy's head? There's some shit going on here that I don't completely get yet.

That's another plus point about Nimrod's Perception, I get to know who wants to kill whom.

[You can just search for it and find out why, you know.]

Yeah, that'd be right. I remember he appeared in the Aging Devil arc, and again in the War Devil Arc. Although I have no clue where he'd be this early on, I intend to find out.

"You know, this world is getting far more interesting than I thought originally," I told Resident Evil, who snorted.

[That's right buddy. Question your self worth.]

A few minutes passed in silence as I gazed into the distance, pondering my future plans. Out of nowhere, this fucker asked me,

[How does a gacha sound?]
