Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: The West Wind Sword

"Mora mice?"

Paimon's eyes sparkled as she asked in surprise.

No matter how she thought about it, it sounded like Jiang Chen could just lie around on piles of Mora every day while the money kept increasing.

Wasn't that basically her ultimate dream?

"It's a type of mouse that spits out Mora," Jiang Chen explained.

"Wow!"

Paimon immediately ran over and hugged his leg.

"Lord Jiang Chen, please raise us!"

Lumine's cheeks turned slightly red when she heard that.

But she didn't panic, because no normal person would take that sentence seriously.

Jiang Chen shook his leg, trying to shake Paimon off.

It didn't work.

"I said that was before. Now I make money through the Good Hunter's business," he said.

"What about those Mora mice that spit out lots and lots of Mora?"

Paimon asked pitifully.

Amber grabbed her and answered for Jiang Chen.

"Of course he released them all."

"Released them?!"

Paimon simply couldn't understand.

Those mice could produce money—

a tool that could let her do nothing all day while Mora piled up endlessly!

"Of course!"

Amber continued,

"Try guessing how many bandit groups Boss Jiang Chen had to drive away back then."

"If he didn't release them, not only the bandits in Mondstadt and Liyue—bandit groups from other nations across Teyvat would have targeted him."

Amber said,

"But thanks to all the bandits focusing on Jiang Chen back then, the security in Mondstadt and Liyue was unusually good!"

"Ah! It was that dangerous?"

Paimon exclaimed.

"You might run into Mora mice in the wild someday. Then you'll see for yourselves."

Jiang Chen said calmly.

Then he looked toward Lumine.

"Come. I'll give you a set of equipment."

"Th-this…"

Lumine hesitated.

"Lumine, hurry up!"

Paimon urged.

"This kind of opportunity doesn't happen for everyone!"

"Yeah, Boss Jiang Chen really takes special care of Lumine."

Amber said with a hint of envy.

Jiang Chen, who had fought bandits countless times before, had always been one of Amber's idols.

"If Amber wants one, I'll give you a set later too."

Jiang Chen said.

After all, if he wanted to level up, Amber was also one of the people worth training.

A character only useful for shooting explosive barrels and solving puzzles?

Impossible.

This wasn't a game with party size limits.

Training one more person meant one more fighting force.

"That's great! Thank you, Boss Jiang Chen!"

Amber said happily.

She grabbed Paimon from the air and squeezed her cheeks excitedly.

"Why am I the one suffering again?!"

Paimon struggled free and floated away angrily.

"Lumine."

Jiang Chen called from the attic doorway.

"Yes, I'm coming."

Lumine followed him with light steps.

Looking at the spacious attic, she couldn't help but feel a little envious.

Although it was called an attic, it was actually the third floor of the Good Hunter restaurant, just occupying half the area of the second floor.

The floor and walls were made of high-quality custom wood, with airy windows and a bright skylight.

Just stepping inside made the place feel incredibly comfortable.

Lumine almost wanted to stretch lazily.

There were four rooms on this floor.

Across the narrow corridor was the largest room, which belonged to Jiang Chen, the owner of the Good Hunter.

Lumine didn't follow him in immediately.

Instead, she stepped forward and peeked around the corner of the hallway.

She saw two more room doors, and behind a curtain at the end was likely the bathroom.

One of the doors had a purple mark carved on it, which caught her attention.

"Wow! Is this it? Is this it?!"

Paimon had already rushed over to a treasure chest, hugging it with open arms.

Lumine had to give up investigating the purple mark and walked inside.

"Mm."

Jiang Chen sat down on a sofa nearby and said,

"These are old weapons I don't use anymore, so I kept them."

"Then I'll open it!"

"Wait—"

Jiang Chen tried to warn her.

But Paimon had already opened the chest impatiently.

A surge of elemental energy burst out from the long-sealed treasure chest.

A small floating mascot was instantly blasted to the ceiling.

Bang!

She fell straight back down.

"Ah! Ouch, ouch!"

"Are you okay?"

Lumine picked her up and asked helplessly.

But Paimon didn't even bother responding.

She rushed back to the chest like a true treasure addict.

She lifted up a long sword.

The blade was slender, colored black and white.

At the guard, milky-white wings shaped like Pegasus feathers curved backward toward the hilt, protecting the user's hand.

The whole sword emitted a faint glow.

"Wow! This sword flowing with wind element is perfect for Lumine!"

Paimon waved it a few times awkwardly.

"Elemental affinity,"

Jiang Chen corrected.

"It's not actually a wind-element sword."

"It's just that Mondstadt has abundant Anemo energy, so over time the wind naturally gathered around it."

"This is…!"

Standing at the doorway, Amber widened her eyes.

"The Favonius Sword?!"

"The Favonius Sword?"

Lumine felt the name sounded familiar.

Knights of Favonius… Favonius Sword…

"This is the standard longsword of the Knights of Favonius."

Amber explained,

"Usually it requires approval from both the Grand Master and the Church before it can be issued."

"It's the crystallization of Mondstadt's craftsmanship and dedication."

She said with a slightly jealous tone,

"Even I don't have one yet… and Boss Jiang Chen is just giving it to Lumine?"
