Chapter 19 - Chapter 19 - Expansion of Darkness

The ruined chapel had become a nexus of shadows, but Gabriel's ambition could not be contained within its walls. The forest surrounding it was already under his control, each tree, stone, and riverbed alive with his darkness. Now, his vision stretched further—toward villages, towns, and settlements. The mortal world would learn the first taste of the cursed immortal's true power.

Gabriel stood at the center of the chapel, Nyx beside him, silver eyes gleaming. The shadows swirled like a storm, shifting and dividing at his will.

"Time to see how far the darkness can reach," he whispered.

With a flick of his wrist, the shadows surged outward, spilling over the forest like an unstoppable tide. Shadow serpents slithered along the rivers, wolves ran through the valleys, and humanoid shadow warriors moved silently through the night, unseen until it was too late.

The first village came into view—small, peaceful, and completely unprepared. Lanterns flickered as the shadow tendrils crept between houses, wrapping around buildings, streets, and even livestock. Doors slammed shut as invisible forces blocked escape.

Gabriel stepped forward, letting the pain from Alex's latest battle flow through him. His silver eyes glimmered with intensity.

"Every wound, every strike, every moment Alex endures…" he murmured. "It fuels me. It fuels them."

The shadows moved like living predators, cutting off any escape and herding the villagers into the open square. Gabriel raised his hand, and the humanoid shadow soldiers arranged themselves into formations—tactical, precise, and terrifyingly efficient.

Nyx growled, moving through the crowd with a predator's grace. The massive shadow wolf's presence alone was enough to force the villagers to freeze in fear.

Gabriel's voice echoed across the square, calm yet commanding:

"Do not run. Do not fight. You are… part of the lesson."

The villagers screamed and cowered, but the shadows did not harm them—yet. They were alive, watching, learning, evolving. Each villager's fear, each heartbeat, fed the shadows' perception, honing them into even more precise instruments of control.

Gabriel's silver eyes gleamed.

"This is the first taste… of the world bending to my command."

From the hills beyond, a small group of hunters arrived, drawn by rumors of unnatural darkness. They had faced Gabriel before, but now they hesitated. The forest, the village, the air itself seemed to resist their presence. Shadows moved subtly, subtly shifting to block paths, cut lines of retreat, and isolate the hunters.

Gabriel stepped into the open square, shadows twisting around him like armor, Nyx at his side.

"You thought you knew power," he said softly, voice cold, deadly. "But this… this is control. This is evolution. And every ounce of suffering I bear… every strike Alex endures… makes me stronger than you can imagine."

The shadows reacted instantly to his thoughts, forming massive, winged beasts that rose into the night sky, blotting out the moonlight. The hunters raised their weapons, but the air was already thick with darkness. Every step they took was anticipated, countered, and neutralized by Gabriel's army.

Nyx growled, the sound vibrating through the village. Gabriel's silver eyes glimmered with a mix of satisfaction and cold intent.

"This… is just the beginning," he whispered. "The world will feel the shadow before it sees me. And when it does… it will learn what it truly means to be cursed."

The villagers screamed again, and the shadows advanced, but Gabriel's silver eyes were focused on something far beyond the village—a whisper of power from Hell.

Alex was still fighting. Every blow, every wound, every scream pushed Gabriel further. His army of shadows had proven itself in combat. Now, the world itself would be the test.

"And soon," Gabriel whispered, voice low but filled with deadly promise, "Hell will see what happens when pain becomes power… and a cursed immortal decides to claim his freedom."

The shadows surged outward, flowing beyond the village, over hills, rivers, and forests, expanding the reach of the cursed one. Gabriel stood at the center of it all, silver eyes gleaming like a storm about to break.

The age of darkness had begun.
