Ch6 - Shopping-Drinks Must Not Be Skimped On

Meng Ci ordered another two thousand metal racks.

While waiting for the fruits and vegetables to arrive at the warehouse, Meng Ci inspected the villa and the property at Jinshang Jiayuan.

He was reasonably satisfied with the progress and quality.

The agent had been supervising the construction site these past few days. Meng Ci wasn't stingy-he transferred ten thousand yuan to him.

He instructed the agent to use the money to buy food and drinks for the workers, keeping the remainder for himself.

The agent had already earned millions in commissions from Meng Ci's previous villa and apartment purchases, and now received occasional tips.

The agent worked even harder.

With twenty-two days remaining until the apocalypse.

Online purchases arrived one after another.

Meng Ci hired two errand runners to receive the deliveries daily, unpack the outer packaging, and categorize the items onto shelves. They were paid a thousand yuan per day.

They were responsible for disposing of the discarded cardboard boxes and similar materials.

The job offered not only high wages but also opportunities for extra income. Naturally, the two were eager and worked diligently.

Meng Ci roughly checked the delivery dates-it would take at least five days to receive all the packages.

Meng Ci then went to attend to other matters.

Fifty cotton quilts, fifty mattress pads, twenty cotton jackets, and twenty military overcoats each.

For hats, gloves, scarves, earmuffs, and similar items, Meng Ci didn't care about price or style-as long as they kept people warm, he ordered fifty of each. The shop owner was curious. Summer was over, but winter was still far off. Why buy all this now? And such large quantities?

Meng Ci had his explanation ready. "I'm in charge of procurement for the Red Cross," he explained.

"I received notice to stock up now while prices are low."

"When winter arrives, I'll donate them to children in remote areas."

The shopkeeper nodded in understanding, even throwing in a few extra items, insisting it was his small contribution to charity.

Meng Ci said nothing, but paid an extra ten thousand yuan at checkout-after all, he wasn't truly donating these goods.

He also subtly reminded the owner that October was the rainy season, suggesting he keep some for his own warmth.

For content requiring a membership to cache, he had the owner activate one-month subscriptions for all, with Meng Ci settling the payment in full later.

Additionally, he had all single-player games and e-novels-both paid and free-downloaded.

When delivered to him, everything had to be fully charged. Meng Ci paid a total of two million yuan.

Naturally, the owner was more than willing. He mobilized his entire family and called in friends, working through the night to ensure everything was downloaded on time and delivered to Meng Ci.

The seafood-fish, shrimp, and other items ordered online-had already been prepared by the owner.

After a two-hour flight, Meng Ci went to inspect the goods. Finding everything fresh, he paid the remaining balance.

He had the owner hand over the cold storage keys, planning to contact someone to haul everything away that night.

He also paid ten thousand yuan to rent the owner's refrigerated truck.

Then, under the cover of night, Meng Ci disabled all the surveillance cameras the owner had installed around the cold storage facility. He stored everything in his spatial pocket in one go.

Once inside the pocket, the items automatically sorted and organized themselves.

A stretch of dirt road lay outside the cold storage facility. Meng Ci drove back and forth several times to fabricate the scene.

Meng Ci retrieved a bucket from his storage space and drained half the fuel from each refrigerated truck before departing.

By noon the next day, Meng Ci had returned home.

With food supplies secured, Meng Ci ordered twenty tons of coal from S City.

Through an online broker, he reserved a nearby warehouse.

He instructed the coal supplier to pack the coal into bags weighing ten pounds each, stacking them all in the warehouse for pickup later.

After three days of constant hustle and bustle, with nothing left to do, Meng Ci lay on his bed and slept soundly.

It was just after six in the evening when the cell phone store owner called, saying the items had been prepared according to Meng Ci's requirements.

Meng Ci got up, went to the store to collect the goods, and took the opportunity to go to the warehouse to store the packages he had received over the past few days into his spatial pocket.

19 days left until the apocalypse.

Meng Ci began staying at the warehouse, collecting the remaining deliveries while continuing his shopping.

He called the largest local purified water supplier, ordering 10,000 fifteen-liter barrels of water to be delivered to the warehouse over ten days.

Then he opened the food delivery app and started ordering meals.

From the beverage shop: Passion Fruit Full Cup, Peach Four Seasons Spring, Lemonade, Pineapple Sweetheart Orange, Strawberry Shake Milkshake, Mulberry Plum Plum, etc.-fifty cups total. Placed the order, then switched to another shop and repeated.

At the burger place: McChicken, McFish, McSpicy Chicken Leg Burger, Double Angus Beef Burger with Cheese-twenty from each shop.

At the Bun shop-forget it, these probably won't be fresh.

It was better to head to the breakfast spot early tomorrow morning and have the owner pack everything up: congee, fried dough sticks, soy milk-gotta get it all.

Noodle shop: Ten servings per shop. Cooked noodles and broth are packed separately. Same for rice noodles and spicy sour noodles.

Stir-fried noodles, stir-fried rice noodles, steamed noodles, braised noodles-order ten servings each.

Spicy hotpot, Maocai, fragrant hotpot-Meng Ci ordered ten servings at once. Items are all pretty similar.

Oh, right, he almost forgot to buy drinks.

Coke, green tea, yogurt drinks, orange juice-two hundred cases at a time.

Dried lemons, dried passion fruit, dried kumquats, rose tea, jasmine tea, cassia seed tea-two hundred portions each.

Hmm, he still needs to buy tea leaves.

Longjing, Biluochun, Oolong tea -all kinds: green, black, white, dark.

Meng Ci couldn't tell the difference in quality. He drank tea mainly because he disliked plain water, so he had no particular taste preferences.

Anyway, he ordered fifty pounds of each, all delivered to the warehouse.

He called the iron rack wholesaler again to ask if they had plastic water barrels-the bigger, the better.

When the owner mentioned that the largest could hold a ton of water, Meng Ci ordered fifty immediately.

In the late apocalypse, water was contaminated everywhere. He had no idea if fifty tons would be enough. All three warehouses had faucets. Meng Ci turned them on and found water flowed freely, so he instructed the boss to distribute the barrels evenly among the three warehouses.

After the delivery crew left, Meng Ci kept only one barrel in each warehouse. He stored the rest in his spatial pocket. Connecting a hose, he began filling them.

Then he continued receiving packages and takeout orders.
