Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 – A Devil for a Bodyguard

"Oh yeah! We're going to the amusement park!"

Richard bounced excitedly in Ethan's arms, practically dancing with happiness. Then something seemed to occur to him, and he suddenly looked up with hopeful eyes.

"Godfather, can we also eat hamburgers and fried chicken?" he asked eagerly. "Dad never lets me eat them."

After saying that, he turned and cast a pitiful glance at Wilson Fisk.

Ethan laughed softly.

"Of course your godfather will take you," he said. "But you can't eat too much. Otherwise you'll end up as fat as your father, and then no girls at school will like you."

Richard turned his head and looked thoughtfully at his father's enormous figure.

He considered the matter very seriously.

After a moment, he nodded firmly.

"I want to pursue Amelia from my class," he said solemnly. "I definitely can't become as fat as Dad."

He paused to calculate.

"Then I'll just eat one fried chicken leg… and half a hamburger from you, Godfather. That shouldn't make me fat like Dad, right?"

He looked up at Ethan with hopeful eyes.

Ethan pretended to think deeply for a moment before nodding.

"Yes, that should be fine."

Wilson Fisk stood nearby listening to their conversation with a helpless expression.

Although his weight reached over two hundred kilograms, it was misleading to think of him as simply fat. Most of his body mass was dense muscle rather than fat.

Wilson Fisk trained regularly with some of the world's top combat specialists. Each session usually ended quickly—because within twenty seconds the opponent would either be unconscious or severely injured.

In terms of both physical strength and fighting skill, Fisk had already reached the limits of human capability.

Even so, he had never lasted more than ten seconds against Ethan.

People who lived among snakes inevitably learned to recognize true danger.

Fisk respected Ethan not only because he had saved Richard, but also because Ethan possessed a level of strength that commanded genuine admiration.

"Richard," Fisk said while rubbing his son's head, "finish your homework first before playing with your godfather."

"Okay, Dad."

Richard nodded obediently.

He turned back to Ethan with excitement.

"Godfather, when I finish my homework, can you stay and play with me for a while?"

"Of course," Ethan replied with a smile.

Hearing that promise, Richard ran happily back toward his room.

Vanessa followed after him and gently closed the door behind them.

Soon only Ethan and Wilson Fisk remained in the living room.

The two men sat casually on the large sofa.

Fisk studied Ethan for a moment before speaking.

"Ethan, why did you decide to deal with Aldrick Morgan?" he asked calmly. "Did the Morgan family offend you somehow?"

After a short pause, he added quietly, "If you need help handling the consequences, just say the word."

Ethan leaned back comfortably.

"No special reason," he said casually. "I just didn't like him."

Then he looked at Fisk with mild curiosity.

"By the way, how have things been lately for Richard and Vanessa? Any trouble?"

The moment the question came up, Fisk's expression darkened slightly.

"There have been three assassination attempts against Richard this month," he said slowly. "And Vanessa has already faced one."

Ethan raised an eyebrow.

"It looks like you've been too gentle these past few years," he said calmly. "People are starting to think the tiger has lost its teeth."

Fisk's eyes turned cold.

"They'll regret thinking that," he said quietly.

Wilson Fisk had countless enemies around the world.

Every day there were people who wanted him dead. Assassination attempts against him personally were practically routine, and most attackers never even got close enough to threaten him.

Fisk rarely cared about those attempts.

But targeting Richard or Vanessa was something he would never tolerate.

Ethan considered the situation briefly.

"Have you strengthened their protection?" he asked.

Fisk nodded.

"There are three visible security teams guarding them," he explained. "Eight more teams operate in the background. Recently I also assigned someone special to watch over Richard."

"Who?"

"Bullseye."

Ethan frowned immediately.

Bullseye was Fisk's most dangerous assassin. His reputation as a killer was legendary.

"That guy might be excellent at killing people," Ethan said thoughtfully, "but are you sure he's suitable for bodyguard duty?"

Fisk sighed slightly.

"I don't have many options," he admitted. "Most of my people are like that."

Then his eyes suddenly brightened.

He leaned forward slightly and looked at Ethan with expectation.

"Do you have anyone you would recommend?"

Since meeting Ethan, Fisk had rarely encountered a problem that Ethan couldn't solve.

Ethan closed his eyes and thought carefully.

Richard was his godson. Aside from Wanda and Pietro, Richard was the person he cared about most in this world.

Naturally he wanted the boy to remain safe.

But finding the right bodyguard wasn't simple.

The person needed strong combat ability.

They also needed to blend in naturally so they wouldn't look like an obvious bodyguard.

Most importantly, they had to possess strong character—someone who couldn't be easily bribed or manipulated.

A name suddenly appeared in Ethan's mind.

He opened his eyes and looked at Fisk.

"Matt Murdock."

Fisk frowned.

He searched his memory but couldn't recall ever hearing that name.

"Who is that?" he asked.

Ethan smiled faintly.

"Wilson, you should actually be familiar with him."

Fisk's frown deepened.

Familiar?

He was certain he had never heard that name before.

Seeing the confusion on his face, Ethan shrugged.

"Alright. Maybe you'll recognize him better if I say his other name."

"Daredevil."

Fisk's eyes instantly narrowed.

He knew that name very well.

Ever since Fisk had risen to become the kingpin of New York's underworld, Daredevil had been a constant problem. Over the years, the vigilante had destroyed operations worth billions of dollars.

Thinking about it, a trace of killing intent flashed through Fisk's eyes.

At that moment Ethan spoke again.

"Wilson, compared to your business interests, I think Richard and Vanessa's safety is more important."

He paused before continuing.

"And someone like Daredevil would never betray them. With a person like that watching over them, you could relax a lot more."

The killing intent slowly faded from Fisk's expression.

He looked toward the closed door of Richard's room.

The ruthless crime lord's face softened slightly.

"I think you're right," he said quietly.

Then he turned back to Ethan.

"So how do we find him?"

Ethan leaned back on the sofa.

"Matt Murdock runs a law firm in Hell's Kitchen with a friend," he said casually. "And here's the funniest part."

He smiled slightly.

"He's blind."

Fisk stared at him in disbelief.

"Blind?"

He found it almost impossible to believe that a blind man could have fought against him for so many years.

"Yes," Ethan replied calmly. "Blind."

"But not an ordinary blind man."

"After an accident took his eyesight, his other four senses became unbelievably sharp. His hearing and perception work almost like a radar."

Ethan tapped his finger lightly on the table.

"Even if he's sitting quietly at home, he can 'see' everything happening within several kilometers around him."
