Chapter 1 - Genesis

I made them laughed, I made them smile, I made them happy. I was the clown when around them, family and friends alike. But I should stop now.

A hand rested on my back and then I felt it, my body succumbing into the gravity. I couldn't walk forward because nothing was to walk on in front.

"Sorry, Vel."

Sorry! That is all you have to say!

And it happened. My vision blurred out. I saw her smile, her hands together on her chest.

You... Betrayed me.

I trusted her, with my life, and she threw it like that? How could she? No, there is no time to waste! I am going to die anyway.

I could feel the intense pressure of the wind pressing against my back as I fell from the cliff. My breathing unstable, and.

"YOU TRAITOR!"

I shouldn't have trusted her in the first place. My once blurry vision darkened instantly. I couldn't see.

Why did she do that? Why did she betray me? Why? Thouhts circulated in my mind. But there is no use thinking about it, and I know it. I am already dead anyway. That bitch pushed me.

My emotion drifted on the sea of nothingness, and a realization hit me.

Wait! Thoughts!?

Then, a voice echoed in my mind.

『Devourer have been acquired.』

A female robot-like voice rang in my head. And deep within me, I felt a strange sensation. A warm feeling seemed to wrap itself around my heart, my essence itself, and I felt ecstasy.

What! W-who are you?

I asked, but there was no response, even after almost a minute of waiting. And then, a bright light engulfed me—my vision—and after I felt serene. How?

Where am I?!

I reached my hand out into the light, and it reaches to me, wrapping its light around my hand. And I felt it, the light pulling me.

「Let this world know your presence.」

Huh!

...

I opened my eyes, and a light greeted me. Swiftly, I used the palm of my hand to cover my eyes. Slowly, my blurry vision stabilized and I saw the beauty. Birds chirping, tree leaves rustling outside, they reached my ears; and the sunlight passing through the window's curtain.

"W-where am I?" I let out. This... Why do I feel so much... Lost?

I don't know, but I feel so lonely, yet so... Soothing.

"My Lord."

And it struck me like lightning. Memories rushed inside me, no, it's more like I am recovering them. Flashes after flashes, the memories of this body resurfacing. Reincarnation? Magic? Magical world? Ego? What are these?

And it stopped.

"I am... Lost."

"Am I Gar—No, not anymore. I am Veldren."
