Chapter 1 - It is a bright night

1)

Everything seems to change when the moon rises in the village. The noisier the day, the quieter the night. The green paddy fields shine in silver light. The shadows of the trees look like paintings on the ground.

So it was that night.

Abhijit was sitting under the big mango tree in the backyard. I had a diary in my hand, but I didn't pay attention to the words written in it. He was thinking about something else.

This year is his higher secondary examination. Financial problems at home, his mother's responsibilities, his dreams — everything made him a little worried. Sometimes he thought that dreams might just be dreams.

Just then a soft voice came from behind—

"Abhijit, are you here again?"

He looked back and saw — Nishita. Her face seemed a little brighter in the sunlight. A book in his hand, his hair blowing in the wind.

"Why did you come so late?" Abhijit asked, but his voice was a little softer than usual.

Nishita smiled and said, "If you can come, why can't I?"

They sat quietly together for a while. There was something to say, but the words didn't come out.

"I see you're worried," Nishita asked slowly.

Abhijit took a while. "I think... if I can't move forward? If I can't help my mother?"

Nishita took the diary from his hand and turned a page. "You'll always move forward. It's a problem because you don't believe in yourself. You can do something bigger.

Abhijit's eyes shone with new courage in the sunlight. In that moment he felt — he was not alone in his dreams.

That night, in the light of that moon, something silent understood between them. There were no promises, no big deal — but a tender feeling was born in the heart.

It was an ordinary night.

But perhaps that "moonlit night" began a new chapter in their lives.
