Chapter 1 – The Boarding School
In my final year of high school, I lived in a boarding school that felt more like a prison than a place of learning.
Every day started before sunrise.
It didn't matter if you had studied all night or slept only a few hours. The doors stayed locked until morning, and no one was allowed to remain in bed.
The routine never changed.
Wake up early.
Go to class.
Return for lunch at noon.
Rest for thirty minutes.
Then go back again.
At night, the doors closed behind us like iron gates of a jail.
Inside the dormitory rooms, there were metal lockers. Old, rusty ones that echoed through the hallway every time they were hit.
And they were hit often.
The supervisors had a strange habit. When they wanted to wake students, they would bang loudly on those lockers with sticks.
The sound was unbearable.
Metal against metal.
A sharp explosion that could wake the dead.
For most students, it was just an annoying routine.
But for me… it would become something I could never forget.
