Sammy was terrified, but she refused to show it.
"Are you going to hurt me?" She glared at him.
Chris laughed. "You look scared."
"So?" She shrugged, still masking her fear. "Only a fool wouldn't be in this situation."
Chris blinked, taken aback. He stepped back slightly, something in his gaze shifting.
"I didn't mean to scare you. I was just messing around. I didn't think you'd actually be afraid of me." A small smile softened his features. "People say I have an unapproachable face. Maybe I should smile more."
She studied him, her body still tense. "Okay. Then if you're not trying to hurt me... why aren't you leaving?"
Chris hesitated before speaking. "You were a virgin."
The air in the room shifted.
"You didn't say you were a virgin," he continued. "You acted like you had experience."
Sammy swallowed. "Oh."
"I'm just... a little surprised."
"Surprised about which part?" Don't say it. Please don't say it.
Chris ran a hand through his hair, looking genuinely at a loss. "I'm a stranger. You had sex with me even though we'd never met before. And while it was the best sex I've ever had, I'm still shocked." His gaze searched her own. "Why me?"
"Why not you?" Sammy countered, leaning back against the bed frame, chuckling dryly. "So, now you're suddenly developing a moral compass—Now?"
"That's not what I meant, and you know it." His voice held an edge of frustration.
Sammy sighed. "It's not that deep, Chris. It's not even a big deal. I wanted to lose my virginity to a stranger—" She gave him a slow once-over. "-and you happened to be the hottest guy in the bar."
As soon as the words left her mouth, Sammy internally winced. Had she lost her mind along with her morality in Vegas? Who even talked about themselves like that? And judging by the way Chris was staring at her, she might as well have grown another head.
"Okay." He nodded after a beat. "I also had sex with you because I wanted to."
"See?" Sammy clapped her hands together. "You get it. Just two adults who wanted sex. Simple."
"You speak your mind a lot. I like that."
Chris bit his lip and suddenly stared at her warily. Sammy saw he had something else on his mind. He paced around for a few seconds, then walked to a stop in front of her.
She held her breath.
"I'll be in Vegas for a while," he said. "What do you say we hang out with while I am here? Because, see, the thing is you intrigue me."
Sammy blinked. This guy, this insanely hot guy, was intrigued by her? Wait, HER?
"You're not saying anything," Chris said. He looked just a little nervous. "Do you have other plans? Someone else you're meeting? Some other guy."
He visibly winced when he said, "Some other guy."
"No... I don't have any plans," Sammy admitted, remembering she really didn't. "I don't even know what to do in Vegas."
Chris knelt in front of her, tilting her chin up. "It's Sin City, and you have no plans?" He smirked, surprised.
"I had one plan," she said, deadpan. "Get laid. Did that."
Chris inhaled sharply, biting his lip. "I helped with that part. What else?"
"I was thinking of sightseeing. Research some cool places."
Chris recoiled as if offended. "Research? In Vegas? No way. Let me show you the real Vegas." He stood up and pulled her with him. "So, what do you say? Let's have some fun in Sin City."
Sammy hesitated. Then nodded. "Okay." She was blushing, HARD.
"Good," Chris exhaled, his voice dropping. "I wouldn't have taken no for an answer. I'm crazy about you."
He pulled her into him. He pressed his forehead into hers. For a second, everything stopped. Their forehead touching was sweet and warm.
She felt an unfamiliar emotion spread through her. She tilted her head and stared, drowned in his deep brown eyes.
DUM... DUM... DUM...
Her heart raced. Faster...faster...
Chris's gaze flickered. He placed a hand on her chest and frowned.
He can hear my racing heartbeat. This is embarrassing.
"I'm dangerous," he murmured. "But I won't hurt you."
Yeah, tell that to my heart.
"I'm not scared," Sammy lied.
"What's your name?"
"Why?" She stiffened. The last thing she wanted was for him to be able to track her down after this trip.
Chris smirked. "I can't just call you lady, ma'am, baby..."
Sammy laughed. "Call me Vegas. We ARE in Vegas."
Chris wrinkled his nose. "No. Since you won't tell me your real name, I'll call you Mia."
"Mia?" She raised a brow. "That means mine."
"I know."
Then, he kissed her.
Hard, hungry, and demanding. Sammy wanted to say something, but she forgot whatever it was; it slipped from her mind as she melted into the kiss.
His fingers tangled in her hair, pulling her closer. He sucked at her lips, deepening the kiss, and then he tore at her gown, pulling it off in one swift motion.
He scooped her up, and, instinctively, she wrapped her legs around his waist, her arm around his neck, trailing hungry kisses down his throat.
Pausing at his Adam's apple, she kissed and sucked.
Chris whimpered, shocked at the sharp emotions. Moaning, he tilted his head back, giving her fuller access. His fingers dug into her hips.
Then, without warning, he pinned her against the wall. His clothes disappeared in seconds.
He pressed his lips to her skin, his mouth tracing a path to her breast. His tongue flicked over her nipple as she arched into him. She gasped, and her fingers slid through his hair.
Chris's eyes darkened as he pulled back. There was something wild in his eyes. "You. Are. Mine." He breathed against her body.
"No." Sammy's breath was heavy as she shook her head. "I belong to no one but me."
Chris groaned. "We'll see about that." He deepened the kiss against her skin. It felt like pleasure and punishment at the same time. Her skin burned from his touch.
He knelt between her legs, slipping two fingers into his mouth before pressing them inside her.
Sammy gasped.
He smirked wickedly, watching her. "You are wet. Your body says otherwise."
Then he pulled a condom from his wallet.
"How many do you even have in that wallet?" she murmured, dazed.
Chris grinned. "Two. This is the last one. Let's make it count."
And as he slid into her, there was no hesitation. There was just pure, unfiltered pleasure.
THE NEXT DAY.
After Sammy fired the last bullet into the target and lowered the gun, she checked her hit and smiled proudly. Every single one had landed.
Chris let out a low whistle as he stepped closer. "You didn't tell me you could shoot." His voice held a mix of surprise and admiration.
"Well, you never asked," Sammy teased, playfully tapping his nose. "So, what other boring things do you have planned?"
"Boring and me, don't go in the same sentence, my dear." He smirked as he tucked back a strand of hair that fell across my face.
She bit her lips.
She wanted him again, even now.
