Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 The Battlefield

Every person has desires, thoughts, emotions, without them they wouldn't enjoy life.

The philosophy recognised by every swordmaster and despised by many victims of it.

But if one enjoys themselves what does it matter if there are those who don't.

Rules thought by elders are to bound us and impart their 'righteousness', then we become elders we will do the same thing thinking we are right and they were not.

It is a sad fate that almost every swordmaster fasced. Being bound not by others but by ones own beliefs, unable too swing your sword freely.

Only a true demon could reap innocent lives as crops, turn joy into twisted, perverse form of enjoyment and only a demon isn't bound by anyone, but everyone is bounded by them.

Righteous sword would never allow such things in front of their eyes, by bounding themselves to that feeling they charge to their deaths.

But even if they are not bounded by themselves a force stronger than them would always appear to suppres their freedom.

***

A lound war horns roar resounded through the battlefield bellow.

Two sides thought, Chen clan and Xing clan. Like two fearce beasts they charged at each other, gnawing at each others throats.

Soon endless puddles of blood formed, as the warriors feet sank into them, not wanting to step on their comrades corpse's.

But that's only wishful thinking. In a death or life situations such careless moves only bring death.

Soon the battle changed. A few dozen warriors fell, eiher headless or split in half.

A champion has appeared, clearing out small groups of enemies with one swing of his collosal sword.

The man's enormous figure was covered in thick armour hiding his face. A symbol of Xing clan was engraved onto the armour.

The surrounding Xing clan members morale rose, as they cheered and roared. While the Chen clansmen retreated in fear only stopped by the back lines, being pushed back to the meatgrinder.

Chen clans situation was worsening their, troops morale fell as their lines began to show signs of breaking, while Xing clan charged fearlessly with two champions in front slaying enemy after enemy, like fierce beasts.

Just as the Chen clans front lines where about to break, a small group of people wearing flashy clothes appeared from the rears of the battlefield.

They held long and beautiful swords each one of them had a unique guard, but the blades shape remained unchanged.

The group was led by a jade like beauty that every warrion on the battlefield could recognise as the Chen clans prodigy Chen Mei.

The small group before long reached the enemies troups, and like a flood dragon they changed towards the Xing clans champions.

Every step they took resulted in dozens of heads falling to the ground, streams of blood flowed, but not a single droplet steined Chen Mei.

The two champions of Xing clan were forced to face Chen Mei's group, a clash between two battle dominating forces occured.

New found strength filled Chen clans troups as they fixed their lines holding them steadfast. Letting out loud battle cries.

The clash between Chen Meis group and the two champions entered a deadlock. Although Chen Mei had with her three subordinates, they were unable to pierce the thick armour of Xing clans champions just as they could not injure them severely.

"Hmph, to think that we would be in a deadlock with some snot nosed brats. Don't think so highly of yourself Chen Mei, even if you attack me for a hundred rounds your attacks would never pierce my armour." One of the champions snorted coldy at Chen Mei, trying to lower their sides fighting spirit.

But Chen Mei only clicked her tongue and retorted. "Tsk, even if I can't break that armour, it doesn't matter, the battle isn't won if we kill you old man."

A bad feeling rose in the Xing clans champions hearts as they glaced towards the back lines, but soon they were forced to look away. These youngsters could not be underestimated, one wrong move and they might have a sword sticking out of their heads.

The anxious feelings in yhe champions hearts grew more as the battle continued.

At the back lines of Xing clan a middle aged man overlooked the battlefield giving commands to the troops.

He was Xing Tong, Xing clans most nurtured general. His physique was robust and his forehead had a cross shaped scar. Although he looked like a brute his mind was calm and calculative.

Even under the Chen Meis groups pressure he remaind calm and guided his troops towards a certain victory.

Or at least that's what he thought was going to happen but in the midst of the battle a sneaky shadow moved around the guards surrounding the commander, hidding near the commander.

The battlefield was in a bloody deadlock, neither side could gain an advantage great enough to win the fight. But the Chen clans commander was calm in his mind he already won the fight.

But just as he was debating with himself how to raise his reputation even more, a figure appeared in the battlefield.

A young man, wearing white clothes, jumped around the battlefield, steping on the Chen clans warriors heads and shoulders, soon reaching the two Xing clans Champions.

Chen Mei immediatly retreated a few steps from the fight and before the Young man could enter the fight he had to duel Chen Mei.

The three subordinates of Chen Mei soon were suppresed by the two champions.

"It's beed a long time, Chen Mei. I have been waiting for far too long, let's fight for a hundred rounds." The young man shouted towards Chen Mei as he landed on the ground, as heads of Chen clansmen flew in the air.

Immediately a new small batlle started.

"Who are you? It does not matter I'll cut you down." Chen Mei asked, not remembering the mans face.

Both of them were evenly matched, unable to gain an upper hand, but Chen Mei could not help but be anxious on the inside. 'Who is this man? I don't seem to recall him at all, but that does not matter now, my subordinates are in danger if I can't make it in time they might die.'

But as much as she wanted to regroup with her subordinates she could not.

At the backlines of Xing clans side, the hidden shadow was becoming more and more nervous.

His success will bring victory, but if he fails he will lose his life. He debated for a while before stealing himself and glancing at the Xing Tong.

Xing Tong was wide open, but how could such a man be so careless as to not be aware of a possible assassination.

The mere thought made the sneaky shadow more anxious than resolute. But then he looked down at the battlefield and saw his comrade's fighting against the champions. The three of them had torn clothes and many bruises and cuts their breathing was getting more and more rough.

And then he glanced at the Chen Mei, his heart immediately eased, but at the same time he became envious of the young man fighting her. The distance between then was so marginal it made him fell hatred for that man.

Soon a lound horn sound entered his ears, it was his signal, but for the enemy it looked like a signal for reinforcements since a new batch of warriors changed the back lines and were soon to rotate closer to the front lines.

Quickly becoming somber the sneaky shadow found a crucial moment then the Xing Tong let his guard down, as he focusing on the battlefield.

Swish

A clean strike, followed by driping blood. The sneaky shadows short sword pierced the forearm of Xing Tong. But his eyes were cold and calculative, his sword already was piercing the sneaky shadows right lung.

"Hmph, you think a simple attack like this is going to take down me? What does that elder of yours thinks I am! Tsk, take him as a war prisoner." Xing Tong snorted, going back to focusing on the battlefield.

The sneaky shadow failed, as he was aprihended and by the guards and taken away.

The fight between the young man and the Chen Mei was still in a deadlock, but the fight between her subordinates and the two champions was soon going to end in the favour of Xing clan.

Griting her teeth Chen Mei glared at the young man, before attacking him desperately.

Each attack was filled with strength to cut boulders in half, but each attack was either deflected or blocked by the young man.

'Damn this scoundrel, there is no other way then. I'll have to reveal my strength' A quick thought flashed through Chen Mei's mind, as she swung her sword desperately.

An opening soon appeared and the young man was not going to let it go, launching a swift thrust with his longblade.

Clang!

A look of disbelief appeared on the young man's face. "You, you have already broken through!?"

But before he could say more a blade swung as a deep diagonal cut appeared on his chest.

Spiting out blood he tried retreating, but the surrounding warriors we're not going to let this happen, they soon stabed at him.

The young man was loosing his consciousness, the pain was to great for him, but he still retaliated and killed a few more Chen clansmen, before desperately running away, disappearing into the chaos.

The battle left it's deadlock, the Chen clan gained the upper hand and before to long the Xing clan forces retreated desperately.

The biggest contributer Chen Mei wasn't happy at all, one of her subordinates in the middle of the fight was cought, and the other two were severely injured and one was on the brink of death.

But soon good new appeared. " Lady Chen Mei, I came to report that we cought the scoundrel whom you were fighting. He's is now our war prisoner."

Chen Mei snorted at the thought of that man and left to treat her wounds.
