Chapter 1 - "Love in the Kash Field"

In a quiet village of Bangladesh, there were green rice fields everywhere, narrow dirt roads, ponds beside tall palm trees, and a small river flowing not far from the village. During autumn, the riverbank would become covered with white kash flowers. When the evening breeze blew through them, it looked as if white clouds had come down to the earth.

In that village lived a boy named Rahat. Rahat came from a simple family. His father was a farmer and his mother was a housewife. From a young age Rahat was very hardworking. He studied at the village school and also helped his father in the fields. But Rahat had a big dream—he wanted to study well and become a successful person one day.

In the same village lived a girl named Meghla. Just like her name, her personality was calm and gentle. She was polite, kind, and very good at her studies. Everyone in the village liked her very much. Her father was a school teacher, so she always had a strong interest in learning.

Rahat and Meghla had known each other since childhood. They studied in the same school. At first they were just classmates, but slowly they became very good friends. Almost every day they walked to school together along the muddy village road.

During the rainy season the road became very slippery with mud. Meghla sometimes had trouble walking. One day Rahat said with a smile,

"Walk carefully, or you might fall."

Meghla looked at him and replied with a little anger,

"Do you think I'm that weak?"

Rahat laughed and said,

"No, but if you fall, I will have to pick you up!"

Both of them burst into laughter. From that day their friendship seemed to grow deeper.

Days passed. Schoolwork, exams, village festivals—through everything they supported each other. Before exams they often studied together beside the river.

Meghla liked studying there.

She would say,

"I like studying here. The air feels so peaceful."

Rahat would reply,

"Yes, it feels like all worries disappear here."

One afternoon after school Rahat was sitting beside the river. It was autumn. White kash flowers were swaying in the wind and the red sun was slowly setting in the sky.

At that moment Meghla arrived there.

"You're here?" Meghla asked in surprise.

Rahat smiled softly and said,

"The evening feels incomplete if you don't come."

Meghla became a little shy and quietly sat beside him.

That afternoon they talked about many things—their dreams, studies, and the future.

Rahat said,

"I want to go to the city for higher studies one day."

Meghla replied softly,

"Then you will leave our village."

Rahat looked toward the sky and said,

"Even if I leave… the village will always stay in my heart."

Meghla said nothing, but something emotional appeared in her eyes.

As time passed, their friendship became even stronger. People in the village began to notice that they cared about each other in a special way.

One day a big village fair was held. There were colorful lights everywhere, a ferris wheel, sweet shops, toy stalls, and crowds of people.

Meghla came to the fair with her friends. Suddenly she saw Rahat standing nearby.

Rahat smiled and said,

"Come on, let's walk around the fair."

They walked together through the crowd. After a while Rahat stopped at a small shop and bought a pair of blue glass bangles.

He held them out toward Meghla.

Meghla looked surprised and asked,

"Are these for me?"

Rahat nodded and said,

"Yes… I thought they would look nice on you."

Meghla took the bangles. She felt shy, but a small happy smile appeared on her face.

That night after returning home, she kept looking at the bangles again and again.

Days continued to pass. One day Rahat received great news—he had the chance to study in a college in the city.

Everyone in the village was very happy for him.

But somewhere deep in Meghla's heart, there was a little sadness.

thanks to all books lovers.
