Chapter 9 - This New Teacher Is Truly Unfathomable!

Under Qian Laiye's eager gaze, Tian Xin led Lan Tianyu down the corridor toward Ultimate Class.

Along the way, both of them remained somewhat quiet, and the atmosphere felt slightly awkward.

"Teacher Lan, did you start teaching right after graduating?"

Tian Xin was the first to break the silence. She looked at Lan Tianyu's handsome profile and gave him a sweet smile.

"Uh… not exactly," Lan Tianyu replied honestly. "I graduated from university about four or five years ago."

"You graduated four or five years ago?"

"That's surprising. Judging purely from your appearance, I thought you had just graduated from college."

Tian Xin looked at him in amazement, carefully examining him. He really didn't look like someone in his mid-twenties.

"You're too kind. Teacher Tian also looks very young. Someone might even think you're an eighteen-year-old girl."

Lan Tianyu smiled politely, returning the compliment.

"Teacher Lan, that's a bit exaggerated."

Tian Xin couldn't help laughing softly and pointed to her office outfit.

"Does this look like the outfit of an eighteen-year-old girl?"

"Isn't it said that women always wish they could stay eighteen forever?"

Lan Tianyu raised an eyebrow.

"There is such a saying…"

Tian Xin smiled warmly.

With such a relaxed start, the slight awkwardness between them quickly disappeared, and the conversation flowed naturally.

Meanwhile—

In a corridor separated by several walls.

A high school student with a slightly mature face and a somewhat sneaky aura was pressing a strange ear-shaped device tightly against the wall.

Beside him stood three other students who surrounded him respectfully, clearly acting as lookouts.

"Boss, what did you hear?"

One of them couldn't hold back his curiosity and asked in a low voice.

"Shh! Stop talking. They're still chatting."

"When they stop, I'll tell you everything."

Jin Bao San waved his hand impatiently, pressing his right ear tightly against the device, unwilling to miss even a single detail.

He had already overheard quite a bit of useful information.

The school had arranged a new teacher to teach in Ultimate Class.

If he leaked that information in advance, it would definitely create a lot of entertainment.

"Oh."

Fu Tou pouted but stayed silent.

Actually, everything would have been fine if they had remained quiet.

But the moment they spoke—

Even through several walls, their voices were clearly captured by Lan Tianyu's extraordinary hearing.

"What kind of bad habit is this? Learning to spy on other people's privacy at such a young age."

"If I don't teach him a lesson, he might become even worse when he enters society."

Lan Tianyu frowned slightly, a trace of displeasure flashing in his eyes.

While Tian Xin's attention was focused ahead, he raised the index finger of his right hand that hung by his side.

Silently—

A tiny crimson fireball, no bigger than a grain of rice yet emitting an astonishing heat, condensed at his fingertip.

With a gentle flick of his finger, the fireball shot forward like an arrow released from a bowstring.

Although the Six Eyes could not see through walls, they could sense internal energy fluctuations.

The person eavesdropping possessed a trace of internal energy.

It was extremely weak—almost negligible.

But it still couldn't escape his perception.

The fireball traced a cunning arc through the air, weaving around several walls with astonishing precision.

"Huh? Strange… weren't they chatting quite happily just now? Why did they suddenly stop talking?"

Jin Bao San lowered the eavesdropping device in confusion and was about to complain.

Suddenly—

A fireball appeared within his field of vision and struck his back at lightning speed.

Sizzle!

The fireball burned a tiny hole in his clothes before disappearing after only a second.

That was clearly because Lan Tianyu had shown restraint.

Otherwise, with that fireball alone, Jin Bao San would have been reduced to ashes.

Even though it left only a small red mark on his skin, the sudden pain made Jin Bao San react like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.

"Hiss! It's hot! It hurts!"

He screamed and reflexively fell to the ground, rolling around exaggeratedly as if trying to extinguish flames that didn't even exist.

While rolling, the corner of his eye happened to catch sight of Lan Tianyu and Tian Xin walking calmly from the other end of the corridor.

Lan Tianyu's gaze briefly met his.

A playful smile appeared on his lips.

Jin Bao San froze instantly.

A chill shot from the soles of his feet straight to the top of his head.

That look…

Had he discovered the eavesdropping?

[Ding!]

[Host has come into contact with the protagonist Jin Bao San of this world. Luck collection in progress…]

[Jin Bao San's favorability toward the host: None]

[10.102%… 10.103%…]

Hearing the system notification, Lan Tianyu frowned slightly.

Jin Bao San was also a protagonist?

After thinking about it carefully, it made sense.

Although this guy had suffered severe internal injuries and could not display a combat power index, he was still an indispensable character in the series.

He had encountered three protagonists shortly after arriving.

That was truly good luck.

Once he reached Ultimate Class, the gains would surely be even greater.

Thinking of this, a bright smile appeared on Lan Tianyu's face.

Tian Xin noticed his sudden smile and looked around curiously but found nothing.

"Teacher Lan, why are you smiling? Did I say something wrong?"

"No. I just noticed a mosquito trying to eavesdrop, so I gave it a small punishment."

Lan Tianyu withdrew his gaze and spoke casually.

"A mosquito… eavesdropping?"

Tian Xin looked completely confused, wondering if she had misheard.

"That's not important. Why don't you tell me more about Ultimate Class? After all, we're about to meet them."

Lan Tianyu smoothly changed the subject.

"Alright."

Tian Xin's attention shifted immediately as she explained seriously:

"The students in Ultimate Class are a bit mischievous. You should prepare yourself mentally."

"But they're not bad people at heart. They're also very smart."

"As long as they put their minds into studying, I believe they can all enter the universities they dream of!"

"…"

This conversation was so clear that Jin Bao San didn't even need his eavesdropping device to hear it.

Combined with that playful smile—

He began to understand something.

That "mosquito" clearly referred to him.

Even from such a distance, the new teacher could hear their whispers.

This newly arrived Teacher Lan…

Was truly unfathomable.
