"Angela, we're now sisters, we'll do everything together, you don't know how happy I am to be your sister", came a sickly sweet voice Angela was all too familiar with, her good stepsister. She'll never forget this voice in her life.
Angela turned and look at Juliet who had a sweet smile on her face but the smile didn't reach her eyes, instead she saw jealousy in her eyes. Angela sighed at how foolish she has been in her past life to not have seen the signs which was as clear as day.
Angela was lost in thought so she didn't notice how awkward the atmosphere was when she didn't reply. Her dad coughed and looked at her with slight disapproval which brought her back to reality, she raised her eyes and saw Juliet looking pitifully at her dad like she's been wronged. Angela inwardly rolled her eyes, 'she's always using this trick to make me look like the bad person,well you are not the only one who knows how to pretend to be pitiful' Angela thought as she quickly put on a pitiful face "I'm so sorry Juliet, it's just that it's been long since I've been shown affection so I was in trance think about my mother", she said in a sobbing tone while she wiped fake tears. Juliet froze and quickly exchanged glances with her mother while Hance felt guilty. "I'm sorry for neglecting you in the past Angela, I'll try to spend time with you, I'll double your allowance for this month", her father said. Angela was surprised and happy,"thank you dad", she said in a sweet voice while thinking in her head, 'no wonder Juliet likes pretending to be pitiful, men fall for this trick quickly even my dad fell for it '.
Sophia and her daughter exchanged another glance 'not good' then Juliet said smiling, "don't worry uncle, I'll take care of Angela like my own sister ". "Hmm that's good, we're family now and I hope you look after each other, I'll be off to work,the driver will take you to school", he said standing up and patting Angela gently on her head. Juliet's smile froze and Angela laughed in her heart because she knows what was going on in Juliet's head, ' you want my dad to double your allowance because he doubled mine,you wish', Angela was happy to see their unhappy face which put her in a good mood so she ate more than she normally eats looking at their forced smiles.
After eating her fill, she called the driver to take her to school without waiting for Juliet to finish her breakfast.Juliet had to put her spoon down to follow her,she cursed Angela in her heart. It's only when they sat down and the car started moving did Angela pretend to say," I'm so sorry,I normally go to school alone so I didn't take you into consideration,did you finish your breakfast?", Juliet forced a smile " yes I'm full ". "That's good",Angela said with a look on relief on her face as she laughed inwardly, ' you haven't seen anything yet', she thought as she looked out the window.
