Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Cobra of Kaliyaganj

The next morning, as Narayan sat in his office checking files, the words from that mysterious phone call kept echoing in his mind. What kind of mafia could exist in a quiet place like Kaliyaganj? Just then, he received news that some people had halted work at the railway project on the outskirts of town and were intimidating the laborers.

Without wasting a moment, Narayan put on his uniform and headed out with his constables. Arriving at the scene, he saw a group of thugs causing a ruckus at the site. Their leader, known to everyone as 'Kalu Bhai,' stood there with arrogance.

Seeing Narayan, Kalu smirked and said, "Ah, the new ASP saab! You took salutes at the station, very good. But this is the soil of Kaliyaganj; our word is the law here."

Narayan didn't waste a second. He walked up calmly and stood right in front of Kalu. The entire place went silent. Suddenly, while adjusting his gloves, Narayan said in a cold voice, "The soil of Kaliyaganj is very simple, Kalu Bhai. But poisonous snakes have started breeding in this soil lately. I've come to draw out their venom."

When Kalu tried to charge at him, Narayan pinned him to the ground in the blink of an eye and handcuffed him. Everyone at the site was stunned. Narayan spoke clearly, "If you want to do business in this town, you do it by the rules, not through thuggery."

The news spread through the town like wildfire. Aparajita was on duty at the hospital; when she heard the news, her heart swelled with pride. But she was also afraid. She knew Kalu was just a pawn; there was a much bigger predator behind him.

That evening, Narayan went to meet Aparajita by the banks of the Kulik River, the place where they used to dream. With a worried face, Aparajita said, "Narayan, please be careful. You arrested Kalu today, but those behind him are very powerful."

Narayan took Aparajita's hand and said, "Aparajita, you are my courage. I am still that same boy from the pulse mill, just with the weight of stars on my shoulders and the power of the law in my hands. With you by my side, I can win any battle."

At that very moment, a call came from Narayan's father's pulse mill. His father's panicked voice screamed from the other end— "Narayan, the mill is on fire! Everything is burning to ashes!"

Narayan and Aparajita stood frozen. Before their eyes, the sky of Kaliyaganj was turning a haunting red from the glow of the flames. Narayan realized the battle was no longer just about his job—it was an attack on his very existence.
