"Tell me whose idea it was to bring me here."
Silence settled between them. Above the table, a fluorescent light hummed steadily, its cold glare washing over the folder beneath Julius's hand.
He held Ashley's gaze before letting out a quiet chuckle.
"I believe you've misunderstood something, Miss De Luca." His fingertips tapped against the folder. "I ask the questions. You answer them. That's how it works here."
Ashley's lips curved slightly.
"And I can choose not to answer. I have the right to remain silent, don't I?"
She raised her brows, her smile almost friendly.
"Yes." Julius nodded. "But if there's been a misunderstanding, I suggest you clear it up now."
Ashley merely shrugged.
Before she had left with Julius, Red had assured her he would get her lawyer. They should arrive any moment.
Besides, she wanted to know what had prompted Julius to come after her.
