"Are you trying to join the White Serpent… now that the Black Dragon has fallen?"
Nikki and Rum furrowed their brows.
"Ah." The man nodded as his gaze shifted between them. "You haven't heard yet, have you?"
Nikki swallowed, struggling to remain calm.
"Dominion and the White Serpent have a truce," she said. "We came here in good faith, yet you're already wishing misfortune upon our boss?"
The man chuckled in amusement.
"A truce…" He nodded. "I suppose you're not entirely wrong."
He leaned back and stretched one arm across the table. His tattooed fingers tapped against the surface as he studied them.
"So?" he hummed, tilting his head almost playfully. "Let's hear why you're here."
His smile widened as he raised his brows, waiting for an explanation.
Nikki drew a deep breath, thinking of what to tell him. She had only mentioned the truce to keep these men from riddling them with bullets. Before she could come up with anything, however, Rum broke his silence.
