Ayuma starts off against Fahragan, a student proficient in taekwondo whose ability is Light Blade Genesis.
"All right, let's get to it," Ayuma says.
Fahragan dashes at Ayuma with a dropkick, feinting into a double roundhouse kick. Ayuma braces for impact and uses the force from the second attack by blocking with his forearms, then using the momentum to jump into the air and launch a barrage of punches.
Fahragan counters by using his ability. "Witness my Light Blade Genesis!" He launches a kick that continuously feints into a side kick, then multiple question mark kicks, followed by a guillotine kick from multiple angles. On top of that, his leg transforms into a blade of pure light energy.
Ayuma is blinded temporarily and gets cut on his fists and arms. "Dammit—this bastard is fast," he says.
"Hey, loser without powers, don't even think about beating me. Try this—see if you survive: Five-Fold Piercing Light Kick!" Fahragan says.
Ayuma looks on in shock as five beams of light come rushing toward him. What happens next shocks even the third-year students.
Hibaware narrows his eyes. "Hmm… that kid, Fahragan, is exceptionally fast. His battle IQ is lacking, but he makes up for it with speed," Hibaware says. "And all his attacks are moving at light speed."
Ayuma proceeds to dodge the first three by sidestepping at the very last second before they hit him, weaving from side to side. Then he jumps over the next two, landing behind Fahragan. Ayuma grabs him from behind and hits him with a German suplex.
"Accck—how did he react to my attacks? They were light speed and should've caught him off guard. How does this powerless loser react to light-speed movement?" Fahragan says to himself.
"Got a little too cocky there, buddy. Now let's have a real fight," Ayuma says.
"You got lucky, kid. Time to die," Fahragan snarls.
"At first glance, this would seem to be a mismatch. However, that boy must wield uncanny physical prowess, and I doubt it's all he has to offer… Seems like the young-ins have real grit in this generation," Hibaware says.
Ayuma then perception-blitzes Fahragan before he can throw his next kick. He grabs the leg Fahragan was about to strike with and kicks the opposite leg Fahragan is standing on, snapping the bone. As Fahragan falls, Ayuma finishes him off with a backfist, knocking him out.
Fahragan is eliminated. The third-years and seniors look on in shock.
The walls start dropping as Ayuma is victorious, and the 1v1 starts to turn into free-for-alls.
Kessho watches, arms crossed. "This year's exams are a lot more interesting than last year's… but this Ayuma kid just won an impossible scenario. I'll keep my eye on him." His gaze shifts. "And this fight here is intriguing." Kessho zooms in on Ruth Sato vs. Raven.
As other students fight in the background, there are a few spectacles that the teachers and high-grade students are paying attention to.
Raven starts off by saying, "This is gonna be easy," as he manifests thirty portal daggers that swarm around him.
"You sure about that, hun?" Ruth says as she twirls her fan around her fingers.
Raven begins spreading the daggers out across the field, jumping through them and approaching Ruth from multiple angles, attempting to grab her—but Ruth's battle IQ is higher than anyone could've thought. She shapeshifts, turning partially into a venomous snake, and bites Raven into the ground.
Raven responds by throwing feather shuriken at Ruth to throw her off guard.
"You think your shapeshifting gives you the edge over me—a master ninja of the Raven Clan?" he says, as he spreads his wings, throwing more feather shuriken mixed in with smoke bombs.
"Hmph. You pathetic man… don't think I would fall to such a basic trick," she declares.
But Raven starts teleporting through the storm of portal daggers he set up, now attacking Ruth from all angles.
She struggles to keep up at first, but then begins relying on instinct rather than her eyesight. As she focuses, she starts dodging effortlessly—and uses her whip-sword to grab Raven by the foot and slam him.
"Impossible… I should be completely undetectable in this smoke-bomb fog!"
Then his daggers start getting cut down by Sato's fans.
"Your tricks are truly annoying."
"My daggers—how are you—" Raven's eyes widen. "That can't be… that's my Darkwing Portal Energy. How are you doing that?!"
As the smoke clears, Raven sees a copy of himself.
"Why—"
"That's simple, dear," Ruth says calmly. "Because of my talent: Founder's Shapeshifting!"
