The words hung in the air.

The two Chaos hunters moved at the same time.
They were faster than the monsters.
Faster than the Watchers.
One hunter dashed forward, his crimson blade slicing through the air toward Kael.
Nyra reacted instantly.
Her dark blade met his with a sharp clash that echoed through the street.
The force of the strike pushed her back several steps.
"These aren't normal enemies!" she shouted.
Kael could feel the pressure coming from them.
It was different from the creatures.
More controlled.
More dangerous.
The second hunter raised his hand.
Dark energy gathered around his arm.
A blast of red power shot toward Kael.
"Move!" Elias shouted.
Kael raised his glowing hand.
The symbol burned brighter than ever.
A portal snapped open in front of him.
The red blast vanished into it.
Another portal appeared above the street behind the hunters.
The blast shot out again.
The explosion shattered the pavement.
The hunters jumped away easily.
They stared at Kael.
Studying him.
"Portal manipulation confirmed," one of them said.
"Threat level increased."
Nyra stepped beside Kael.
"You need to leave."
"What?" Kael asked.
"They aren't here for a battle," she said.
"They're here for you."
Another roar echoed from the sky.
More Chaos creatures were beginning to fall again.
The city was becoming a battlefield.
Nyra grabbed Kael's arm.
"Open a gate."
Kael hesitated.
"To where?"
Nyra looked toward the dark portal behind her.
"To my world."
"The Shadow Realm."
