The new house was quieter than Camille expected.
That was the first thing she noticed.
There were no cameras outside the gates.
No constant movement in the hallways.
No business meetings happening in every corner.
No security teams rushing around because somebody had discovered another threat.
Just trees.
Birds.
Wind.
And the sound of her husband's footsteps somewhere behind her.
Camille stood in the middle of the living room, looking around.
"We actually did it."
Dante dropped a box beside her.
"We did."
She smiled.
"I like it."
"You haven't seen the kitchen."
She immediately turned.
"Show me."
He laughed.
"Of course."
She followed him.
The kitchen was exactly what she'd wanted.
Large windows.
A marble island.
Enough space for her to cook without nearly destroying the house.
She looked at him.
"I'm going to become a great cook."
Dante raised an eyebrow.
"I'll support you emotionally."
She laughed.
"You're still making fun of me."
