Chapter 107 - Chapter 107: Before Us, There Shall Be No Enemy

Urie Kuki looked at the two people in front of him warily and did not act rashly.

After being beaten unconscious by Big Madam, his intelligence had finally returned to its proper place.

He did not know how long he had been out, but Big Madam had not eaten him. That likely had something to do with the two in front of him.

His gaze swept across the scene and landed on Big Madam's body, now reduced to scattered chunks. His pupils trembled, and fine beads of sweat appeared on his forehead.

Anyone capable of killing Big Madam was certainly not someone he could defeat. He began to regret sending Suzuya Juuzou away.

The current situation was extremely strange. Why were these two ghouls not killing him. What was their purpose.

Amano Hiro and Rize said nothing, simply watching him as he stood there at a loss.

He finally could not hold back. "What do you want?"

Since they were not killing him, they must need something from him.

"First meeting. I am Carnage."

Amano Hiro smiled faintly and introduced himself with visible interest.

"You... are... that Carnage?"

Cold sweat slid down Urie Kuki's face. He had not expected to encounter Carnage here.

Carnage could be considered a super boss. He was not someone Urie could even begin to challenge.

He had been thinking about finding a chance to escape, but now that hope was gone.

"What do you want me to do?"

Since he could not run, he could only find out what Carnage wanted. If he had not been killed, then there was something expected of him.

"Before that, let me tell you something. Do you know that the founder of the CCG, the highest authority, the Washuu Clan, are actually ghouls.

This twisted world is being orchestrated by them behind the scenes.

They incite opposition between humans and ghouls, eliminate forces that oppose them,

and use the conflict between ghouls and humans to cover up their various human experiments,

gradually seizing control of human society and ultimately achieving the evolution they desire."

Amano Hiro did not answer his question and instead casually dropped one bombshell after another.

"Impossible." Urie Kuki blurted out. The CCG leadership. The Washuu family are ghouls. Impossible. Absolutely impossible.

If members of the Washuu Clan were ghouls, the RC detection gates would have exposed them long ago.

How could no one have discovered it all this time. He must be lying.

No. That was not right. Carnage had no reason to lie to him. He was merely a Rank 2 Investigator. There was no reason to fabricate lies just to waste words on him.

But if what he said was true, then the CCG would be a joke. His father's sacrifice would also be a joke.

"Do you know, Urie-kun, that there was once already food that allowed ghouls to survive without devouring humans.

But this possibility of peace between ghouls and humans was destroyed by the Washuu.

They do not want peace. They need the current opposition to continue in order to accomplish their goals."

"I can see that you are different from the brainwashed tools within the CCG.

You have the ambition to become strong, and you have a brain. You have the potential to reach the summit.

You should lead humanity toward an entirely new future."

"Well. Urie-kun, submit to me. In that case, I will grant you greater power. The power to fulfill your wishes."

After speaking, Amano Hiro extended a tendril. The tendril writhed and expelled a scarlet chunk of flesh that pulsed slowly like a heart. He tossed it toward Urie Kuki.

"This is my kakuhou tissue. After absorbing it, you will be granted powerful strength."

Urie Kuki subconsciously caught it. Looking at the slowly beating kakuhou tissue in his hand,

the RC cells throughout his body boiled, urging him to eat it quickly. As long as he ate it, he would gain immense power.

He struggled to lift his head and look at Amano Hiro. "What happens if I refuse?"

"That would only mean I misjudged you. You would be no different from those pieces of trash." Amano Hiro's tone sounded both regretful and disappointed.

Urie Kuki rapidly processed everything Amano Hiro had said while staring at the flesh in his hand.

The emotions in his eyes shifted wildly. In the end, he shoved the flesh into his mouth.

As he swallowed it, a violent surge of power erupted within his body,

completely incomparable to before. His kakuhou began to proliferate uncontrollably,

and his kagune transformed along with it until his upper body was fully covered.

He gently stroked the altered kagune, feeling the surging strength.

He felt the pinnacle of authority beckoning to him. With this power,

what Special Class. He would be Bureau Director.

Slowly retracting his kagune, he looked at Amano Hiro.

"Are you not afraid that I will betray you?"

Amano Hiro smiled lightly. "Urie-kun, visible betrayal is not frightening. What is truly terrifying is invisible betrayal."

"And besides, the so called ranking system of strength means nothing to me. Just like this."

He raised his hand and made a grasping motion toward Urie Kuki.

Urie Kuki dropped to his knees, clutching his chest tightly. He felt as if a hand had seized his heart.

His mind shook violently. What kind of method was this. Grabbing someone's heart through the air.

This was not an ability a ghoul should possess. What difference was there between this and a god.

Urie Kuki looked up at Amano Hiro in terror. This single action was more shocking than everything said before.

"Urie-kun, fear nothing. As long as you walk with me, before us, there shall be no enemy."

Amano Hiro withdrew his hand, wrapped an arm around Rize's slender waist, and turned toward the exit.

"I hope that when we meet next time, you will already have reached the summit."

Urie Kuki stared blankly at the two figures disappearing through the exit, unable to regain his senses for a long time.

CCG. Special Class. Operation plans. All of it was a joke. As long as Carnage wished it, the CCG could be destroyed at any time.

As for what Carnage had said, he would verify each claim himself. If it were true.

"Heh. Heh heh. Hahahahahahaha."

....

After bringing Rize outside, there was not a single person left. Whether Aogiri Tree or the CCG, all had already withdrawn.

Having finished showing off, Amano Hiro felt refreshed and invigorated.

He felt refreshed, but Rize was curious.

"Hiro, was what you said earlier about a substitute food that allows ghouls not to devour humans true?"

Amano Hiro laughed. "Of course not. I was lying to him. But theoretically it does exist. It is just that no one has developed it yet."

Rize rolled her eyes elegantly.

What do you mean it exists, just has not been created. That is the same as not existing at all.

"By the way, was that little bread just now really as impressive as you said?" Rize asked curiously.

"He has some brains, but not much. Keeping him is mainly to cause trouble for Washuu Matsuri,

and to serve as a positioning coordinate. I never expected him to be of great use."

With a whoosh, Hiro spread his wings, lifted Rize into the air, and vanished into the night sky.
