The horde of nightmares collapsed one by one as a terrifying force covered them, their very forms dissolving and being devoured, turning into fuel that funneled through my being.
I'd never felt such a pure and enormous amount of energy before, barring the chaos energy I wielded.
The Apostle didn't relent. The region around us snapped into the shape of an uncountable number of screaming faces. The unholy sounds coming from their mouths unleashed a wave of raw, paralyzing dread—a feeling like what one would get at the precise moment a heart stops, the ice in the veins when the dark reaches back. Every shadow cast by the horrible yellow manifestation of the Apostle sharpened into an eye that demanded to be seen, seeking a mind to infect, a pulse to hijack.
I didn't flinch. I couldn't. Reacting now would mean once more acknowledging the fear before me.
I'll be damned if I let such a thing repeat itself.
