Maya's POV
The evening air felt unusually mild for this time of year in Oakwood Valley. Stars scattered across the dark canvas above us, while the full moon cast silver ripples across the heated pool on the mansion's secluded terrace. Sebastian had brought me here earlier, mentioning that his family rarely used this particular spot.
"Does this water actually stay warm?" Penelope asked, testing the temperature with her fingertips.
"Exactly thirty-two degrees," I answered, kicking off my sandals. "One of the advantages of marrying into serious money."
My sister was already peeling away her sundress, exposing the swimsuit she'd clearly worn underneath all day. She'd been planning this midnight swim from the start.
"So this counts as my bachelorette party?" She lifted the champagne bottle she'd swiped from Sebastian's wine collection, her grin wicked in the moonlight. "Pretty pathetic celebration. No male dancers, no embarrassing dares."
