Chapter 1 - Chapter 1:Rebirth

The first thing I felt was weight.

Like gravity had changed its mind about me.

I gasped and bolted upright in a bed that was far too soft to belong to the battlefield I remembered.

The last thing I'd seen in my old world was a sky splitting open,

Alien ships. Black, geometric, silent. Not like in movies, no cool flashing lasers, no speeches of superior civilizations.

Just pillars of light that erased cities like chalk on a board.

I had been running toward the chaos instead of away from it. Typical me. Fifteen years old and fearless in the dumbest ways and always seeking excitement...

Then a white flash...

Then nothing.

But Now?

Now I was breathing again..

I looked down at my hands.

Brown skin. Broader palms. Callused fingers.

Muscular arms.

"…Okay,... this is an improvement," I muttered.

My voice was deeper than I remembered. Not by much, but enough for me to notice.

I threw off the blankets and stood.

Tall. Taller than before. My body felt like it had been optimized. Balanced. Strong.

A slow grin spread across my face.

I was alive and something was humming in the back of my mind.

[SYSTEM INITIALIZATION COMPLETE]

A translucent blue panel blinked into existence in front of my eyes.

I did not scream.

Because I knew exactly what that was.

I started laughing instead.

"Are you serious, I'm getting a system?"

(Temporal Anchor Not Yet Triggered)

CURRENT WORLD: OOO

I touched the floating panel.

It rippled like water.

I closed my eyes.

Alien invasion.

Death.

Reincarnation.

Adventure Time.

My heart skipped.

Slowly, carefully, I looked around.

The room was modern. Sleek. Clean. Floor-to-ceiling windows and a Minimalist décor.

Luxury apartment.

I walked to the window.

The skyline beyond was familiar in a way that made my stomach twist.

It was Earth.

But not my Earth.

It was too quiet.

Too polished.

Too… pre-Mushroom War chaos.

My pulse spiked.

I ran to the dresser. Wallet. ID.

Samuel Adeyemi.

Age 15.

Legal guardian:recently Deceased.

Status: Independent beneficiary.

Net worth: absurdly high .

My grin grew wider.

"Rich orphan huh? , I could work with that since I lived alone for a while in my previous life"

No parents to worry about my well-being.

No restrictions and A lot of money plus a system

I was going to have some fun in this and hopefully go on some adventures...

On top of that the Adventure Time knowledge is still secure in my head...

I threw my head back and laughed.

"This is insane."

And then the memory hit.

The Mushroom War.

The bombs.

The Lich.

My laughter died.

I ran into the living room and turned on the television.

Static flickered.

Then a news broadcast filled the screen.

"…tensions between global superpowers continue to escalate. Military sources confirm deployment of Class-BIO arcane payloads…"

I felt cold run down my spine...

A map of the world appeared on TV.

Red zones blinking.

Five days until the bombs.

Five days before the event that destroyed the planet.

Five days before the mutagenic bomb, before the Lich was born.

I sat down slowly.

I knew this timeline.

I knew what was coming.

And I was right in the middle of it.

PERK ANALYSIS

Absolute Assimilation:

I can copy the skills, abilities, knowledge, and traits of anyone I defeat or kill. No negative impact. No corruption. No mental contamination.

My breath caught.

That meant magic too.

The Lich?

Maybe.

Passive Evolutionary Adaptation:

My body adapts automatically to threats, environments, and challenges over time.

Radiation?

Mutagenic fallout?

Magic?

I'd evolve, as long as I don't die outright,, I'd grow.

System Interface:

Levels. Stats. Skills. Inventory? Missions. Map.

Optional missions tied to canon events.

Which meant…

The system would try to drag me into important moments and I could refuse depending on the mission I guess.

The Mushroom War.

The birth of the Lich.

The rise of the Candy Kingdom.

Everything.

My hands trembled.

Not from fear.

From excitement.

I loved Adventure Time.

Not just the goofy surface that makes me happy but the deep lore.

The darkness beneath it. The thousand-year history soaked in regret and magic.

And I was here.

Before it all went to shit .

I stood.

"Okay," I whispered.

Think.

I had five days before the world shattered.

I could try to stop it.

But that could potentially erase canon.

Erase the Lich

Erase Finn.

Erase everything.

And I didn't know if the system would allow it.

This world had a shape. A narrative gravity.

Mess with it too much and I might get crushed.

No.

Survive first.

Prepare.

Then decide.

I opened my laptop.

Financial accounts loaded instantly.

More money than a fifteen-year-old should ever control.

Corporate bonds. Military stocks. Private contractors.

Huh.

This kid's parents had been involved in something dangerous, it didn't matter anymore.

I started ordering.

High-grade radiation suits.

Water purification systems.

Military-grade MREs.

Medical kits.

Gas masks.

Hazmat gear.

Portable generators.

Satellite communication devices.

Camping equipment.

Cold storage units.

Seeds.

Weapons you name it, I probably bought it...

Firearms were legal.

I bought several.

Plus ammunition.

If the world was about to become a post-apocalyptic magical nightmare, I wasn't starting unarmed at least.

Hours passed and the sun dipped lower.

The news grew more frantic.

"…reports confirm arcane weapon research facilities have gone dark…"

"…unverified footage of biological anomalies…"

"…government officials deny rumors of…"

The screen cut to static.

I leaned back.

My mind raced.

Where should I go?

The bomb that created the Lich detonated somewhere in the continental United States.

If I remembered correctly, the epicenter was around the Midwest.

The land that would become the Land of Ooo.

Which meant…

I was probably somewhere near future Ooo already.

The skyline outside was familiar..

I zoomed the map on my phone .

I was in what would one day be the ruins near the Candy Kingdom.

Pre-war metropolis.

Which meant ground zero would not be far.

If I stayed here I could experience the most potential growth..

The things like, Radiation Magic fallout, Mutation storms.

But I had Passive Evolution.

And Absolute Assimilation.

And the system.

Danger meant growth.

Running too far might isolate me from powerful beings to copy.

Staying close meant risk.

My heart pounded harder.

I smiled.

"I'm staying."

[MAP UNLOCKED]

A glowing grid appeared in my vision.

Topographical lines.

Energy signatures.

Red zones blinking across the continent.

One massive pulsing mark west of me.

Countdown: 5 Days 03:14:22

The system knew.

Of course it did.

I walked to the mirror and looked at myself.

Tall.

Broad shoulders.

Defined muscle.

Brown skin gleaming under apartment lighting.

Not bad.

I flexed experimentally.

My Stats were 12 Strength felt stronger than a normal fifteen-year-old body.

I focused.

"Status."

The panel appeared again.

"Can I allocate points?"

No response.

Probably level-based.

Fine.

Then I would level, maybe it'll change in the future or something .

I grabbed one of the pistols from its case once it arrived hours later via absurdly fast premium delivery, this world's delivery is fast as hell.

The weight felt natural in my hand and very light..

I walked to the range built into the basement of the building.

Of course there was one.

Rich orphan perks plus criminal parents I guess.

The first shot rang out like a gunshot in my old world.

Sharp and Final.

The recoil jolted through my arm with less force than expected.

A faint notification blinked.

[Skill Acquired: Basic Firearms Handling Lv.1]

I grinned.

"Nice."

I kept shooting.

Every correction I made sharpened faster than it should have.

My body adjusted.

Grip refined.

Breathing steadied.

By the time the magazine emptied,

[Basic Firearms Handling Lv.3]

Passive Evolution was already at work and I loved every second of it...

Night fell.

I returned upstairs.

The city lights looked fragile.

Like a glass sculpture about to be shattered.

I lay on the couch instead of the bed.

Sleep felt wrong.

Like wasting time.

But my mind needed clarity.

Before drifting off, I whispered:

"System… any missions?"

Silence.

Then.

[TEMPORAL ANCHOR APPROACHING]

[PRIMARY EVENT: MUSHROOM WAR DETONATION]

[OPTIONAL PRE-EVENT OBJECTIVES WILL UNLOCK WITHIN 24 HOURS]

I exhaled slowly.

"Of course."

I closed my eyes.

Five days until the world ends.

And I've got front-row seats.

__

When I woke again, it wasn't to sunlight.

It was to sirens.

I shot upright.

The sky outside glowed faintly orange.

Emergency broadcasts blared across every channel.

"…confirmed tactical magical exchange in Eastern Europe…"

"…casualty numbers unknown…"

"…citizens are advised to seek immediate shelter…"

It had begun.

Not the final strike.

But escalation.

I walked to the window.

Far on the horizon, a thin pillar of light pierced the clouds.

Too far to hear.

Too far to feel.

But just visible enough to see.

Magic.

Real magic.

My skin prickled.

Fear slid down my spine.

Then something else followed it.

Anticipation.

I checked the map.

Red zones multiplying.

Energy spikes increasing.

And then

A small golden exclamation mark appeared near my location.

I focused on it.

[OPTIONAL MISSION: WITNESS THE FALL]

Objective: Survive within 50 km of Primary Detonation Zone during Event Zero.

Reward: +5 All Stats, Title Unlock, Hidden Trait.

Penalty of failure: Death by mutation.

I laughed quietly.

"Subtle."

But the reward…

+5 All Stats at Level 1?

That was massive.

Hidden Trait?

Tempting.

And I had Passive Evolution.

If I could survive the blast and fallout,

I might emerge stronger than anything born in the aftermath.

But it would be close.

Very close.

I looked at the countdown.

4 Days 18:02:11

Time to prepare.

Over the next two days, tension became a living thing.

Cities emptied.

Highways clogged.

Markets stripped bare.

I didn't leave my building much, only for secure pickups.

I reinforced the apartment.

Converted one room into a sealed shelter.

Stacked supplies.

Filled bathtubs with water.

Installed radiation monitors.

My neighbors vanished one by one.

Doors left open.

Pets abandoned.

The silence grew heavier.

On the third night, something changed.

The air felt charged.

Like static before lightning.

The system pinged softly.

[WORLD CONDITION SHIFT DETECTED]

[MAGIC SATURATION INCREASING]

I stepped onto the balcony.

The stars looked wrong.

Too bright.

Too close.

Some flickered in unnatural colors.

I swallowed.

"Five days," I whispered.

"Five days before everything I know begins."

Somewhere in the future, Finn would be born, Jake would stretch lazily under a tree,

Princess Bubblegum would build a kingdom from candy and trauma,

The Lich would whisper of extinction.

And I was here.

Before all of it.

A ghost before the story began.

On the fourth day, the first mutated creature appeared on the news.

A soldier.

Transformed by exposure to an arcane detonation.

Limbs elongated.

Eyes glowing green and oozing green sludge..

It took an entire squad to put him down.

I stared at the screen.

If I defeated something like that…

I'd gain its enhancements.

Without the madness.

My heart raced.

Danger meant opportunity.

That night, explosions sounded closer.

The building trembled faintly.

Dust fell from the ceiling.

The countdown ticked mercilessly.

1 Day 06:12:44

I suited up in a light hazmat layer just to test mobility.

Clumsy.

But manageable.

I checked ammunition.

Food.

Water.

Then sat in the center of my reinforced room.

Waiting.

The final day arrived without sunrise.

Clouds swallowed the sky.

Sirens had long since stopped.

No more broadcasts.

Just static.

The map pulsed red.

The epicenter marker flared like a dying star.

Countdown: 00:03:12

I sat cross-legged.

Heart steady.

Fear coiled in my stomach like a serpent.

But I didn't move.

I chose this.

00:00:10

The air vibrated.

00:00:05

Pressure built in my ears.

00:00:02

The world held its breath.

00:00:00

Green

This green was alive,

The shockwave hit seconds later.

The building screamed.

Concrete fractured.

Glass atomized.

I was thrown backward despite reinforced walls.

Heat like the breath of a god washed over everything.

My vision blurred.

Skin burned.

Radiation alarms shrieked.

Then

Darkness.

Pain.

Unimaginable pain.

My skin felt like it was melting.

Cells tearing apart.

DNA unraveling.

Something inside me shifted.

Adapted.

Changed.

Passive Evolution ignited like a second heart.

My body began rewriting itself.

Radiation resistance forming.

Tissue regenerating faster than it could decay.

Magic weaving into my bloodstream without corruption.

I screamed.

Not from fear.

From transformation.

The system flooded with alerts.

[PASSIVE EVOLUTION ACTIVATED]

[RADIATION RESISTANCE ACQUIRED Lv.1… Lv.2… Lv.3…]

[ARCANE ENERGY TOLERANCE ACQUIRED Lv.1… Lv.2…]

My vision returned in flickers as I groaned "ugh fuck!.." .

The room was gone.

Half the building had collapsed.

The skyline outside was a jagged ruin of flame and dust.

The sky was green.

Green.

Like something had poisoned heaven itself.

I pushed debris off my body.

Bones unbroken.

Skin blistered but healing.

Slowly.

Painfully.

But healing.

I staggered to my feet.

The city I'd known hours ago was gone.

In its place,

A graveyard of smoke and distant, unnatural light.

I stepped onto broken concrete and looked toward the horizon.

At the epicenter, something pulsed.

A crater glowing sickly green.

And from it

A shadow moved.

Tall.

Skeletal.

Horned.

The Lich.

Not fully formed.

But born.

My breath caught.

I was witnessing the beginning of the greatest evil in Ooo.

The Optional Mission flashed.

[OBJECTIVE COMPLETE: SURVIVED EVENT ZERO]

[+5 ALL STATS]

[TITLE UNLOCKED: WORLD WITNESS]

[HIDDEN TRAIT ACQUIRED: ARCANE AFFINITY]

Power surged through me.

Strength rising.

Mind sharpening.

Magic humming closer to my skin.

I stared at the distant figure crawling from devastation.

"I'm not strong enough," I whispered.

Not yet.

But I would be.

The Mushroom War had ended the old world.

And begun the age of monsters.

I stood alone in the ruins.

Fifteen years old.

Rich orphan.

Reincarnated idiot.

Adventure lover with way too much knowledge of cartoon lore.

And now?

Now I was something else.

A survivor at the dawn of Ooo.

The map shifted.

New markers appearing across the wasteland.

Creatures awakening.

Energy storms forming.

The system pulsed gently.

[NEW ERA DETECTED: POST-MUSHROOM WAR]

[MISSIONS AVAILABLE]

I smiled through cracked lips.

"Alright," I said softly.

"Let's go see what a thousand years of chaos looks like."

The wind howled across the broken world.

And I stepped forward into it.

Adventure was calling.

And this time,

I wasn't going to die running toward it.

I was going to grow.
