Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: The Beauty in the Painting

After finishing the pulls, Junze looked at the remaining rewards.

His luck had been average. Aside from the first two four-stars, the remaining eight were all three-star items.

One skill card and seven item cards.

No need to check the items. They were basically junk: some weapons, ores, potion bottles, and the like.

He immediately ate the ores on the spot.

Three-star items had little use. They might as well nourish him directly.

As for the weapon, it was an extremely ordinary iron sword. Truly the "best sword in the whole village."

There was also a bottle of pills for healing, though the effect was limited.

The only three-star that Junze found somewhat useful was the skill.

[Skill · Beginner Drawing]

[Description: Three-star skill. Grants basic knowledge of drawing.]

Looking at the card, Junze scratched his cheek. "Did I get this because I was drawing here?"

If I did that kind of thing, would I also…

"But why does the strongest Archon System give me stuff like this?"

"Is it trying to make me a cultured demon god?"

Junze could not figure it out.

But since the system gave it, why not use it?

After collecting all the rewards, he did not save them.

[Attribute · Cryo] and [Skill · Beginner Drawing]

He used both immediately.

What he looked forward to most was the item card.

He stared at the Coconut Milk card in his hand. After hesitating a moment, he used it.

A flash of purple light.

Junze looked at his hands. Empty.

He looked around. Nothing.

"Hm? Is it somewhere else?"

He searched everywhere. Still nothing.

His previously excited mood sank instantly. A bad premonition rose in his heart.

To be safe, he waited a while longer.

Still nothing happened.

The cute little face darkened immediately.

Junze shouted, "Hey! System! There's a bug!"

"System, explain yourself. Why did you swallow my item card!"

He had pulled two purples in one ten-pull, and now one was just eaten?

No one could accept that!

"Come out! Don't play dead!"

Junze knocked on the popup window.

"Your banner can be greedy if it wants, but how can you not give me what I pulled!"

"Of course, I'm not really saying you're greedy."

While complaining, Junze remained very realistic.

If the system actually lowered his five-star rate, he would cry to death.

"If there's a bug then fix it quickly, and also give Primogem compensation and make me forget!"

Mm… that was probably his real goal.

As if sensing Junze's ulterior motive, a popup appeared.

[Item · Coconut Milk is a special item. It has already taken effect. Please wait for delivery.]

"Oh, I see."

Getting the reply, Junze muttered, "Darn, so it's not a bug. No compensation."

"But… special item? Just what…"

Junze became even more curious about the Coconut Milk.

After finishing the pulls, he exited.

At this moment, Ganyu was completely immersed in reviewing documents and examining proposals.

Soft yellow lamplight shone on her face, highlighting her exquisite beauty.

The light itself seemed cautious, afraid of disturbing this lovely girl.

From time to time she frowned slightly, from time to time her lips curved upward.

Correspondingly, the cute ahoge on her head reacted as well.

Clearly, the proposals were affecting her.

Liyue's development might well be accumulating from these very documents in the girl's hands.

"Master looks so pretty when she's serious."

Little Junze propped his chin on both hands, swinging his feet on the chair, face full of contentment.

Sometimes, perhaps doing nothing at all, just watching someone so lovely, was enough to feel happy.

At this moment, his elbow accidentally bumped the pen beside him.

Seeing the pen roll in front of him, Junze smiled.

He picked it up and whispered, "So you think the same as me?"

"So you want me to draw Master?"

"Of course, no problem~"

When Junze decided to draw, the three-star skill he had just absorbed immediately took effect.

A large amount of basic drawing technique flooded into his mind.

For now, he only had theory. Practice was still clumsy.

The skill card functioned like unlocking a skill tree, guaranteeing the host had the ability and foundation to learn it.

But true mastery still required training.

Of course, with the full theoretical set, with enough practice he would certainly learn it.

"Let's begin."

Junze watched Ganyu working at her desk while sketching her onto the paper.

The tip of Junze's pen tracing curves and the tip of Ganyu's pen correcting documents created a pleasing contrast.

They really were working overtime together.

At first, Junze's drawing was very crude. One could not even tell it was Ganyu.

If others saw it, they would probably laugh.

But as Junze focused, it quickly changed.

[Attribute · Focused Concentration] effect activated.

If Junze could check his status now, he would see [Attribute · Focused Concentration] shining gold, while [Skill · Beginner Drawing] flashed white continuously.

Gradually, gradually, the figure on the white paper became clearer.

A gentle, tranquil, elegant face.

Rock-like focus and perseverance.

And that blend of timidity and quiet resilience.

Little by little, Ganyu's essence emerged beneath Junze's pen.

Though the lines were still immature, the core was captured with perfect accuracy.

Junze did not know that this skill, which seemed to offer little increase in strength, might in the future become one of his most treasured abilities.

The reason, naturally, was the one within the painting.
