Chapter 5 :Shareholders meeting
In the afternoon, the JM Group shareholders' meeting was held.
Jerry looked at the shareholders who had almost all arrived and was somewhat surprised.
'Most of the shareholders are from the Miller Family, so they shouldn't give me any face.'
But now almost everyone has arrived.
At this moment, Robert led a group of people in, looking very aggressive. Jerry immediately understood, and a faint smile appeared on his lips.
"Jerry! What do you mean? You didn't even ask for my opinion before holding a press conference and a shareholders' meeting. Do you even respect me as your father?" Robert immediately started cursing at Jerry.
One older women said angrily, "This is a company, not a place for you to cause trouble!"
The shareholders split into three factions. Only a handful of people spoke up for Jerry, half of them criticized Jerry, and the other half remained silent.
Jerry smirked coldly: "As the chairman and the largest shareholder of JM Group, do I need your approval to do anything?"
"You!" Robert was speechless.
"Then do you even see me as your father anymore?"
"Yes, of course." Jerry knew he couldn't afford to fall out with him yet, and said in a deep voice, "But you also said that family matters are family matters and public matters are public matters."
There was some truth to what was said, and even though Robert and the others were extremely angry, they could only sit down first.
Jerry scanned the crowd, his calm gaze carrying a hint of ferocity that sent chills down their spines.
Many shareholders lowered their heads, their eyes filled with surprise and doubt. Why was the chairman so different from before?
"President Miller, please sit down. Don't take up everyone's time."
Jerry slowly began, "The first thing is about personnel changes in the purchasing department. Ena Miller, you are pregnant. According to company regulations, you are entitled to pregnancy benefits. Go home and rest first."
"I have rehired the former head of the purchasing department, and she will temporarily lead the purchasing department." These words immediately caused an uproar.
The eldest sister, Ena, glared angrily, never expecting that Jerry would dare to fire her!
Going home to rest during pregnancy sounds nice, but it's really just a way of forcing yourself to leave.
Robert roared, "What? You want to fire your eldest sister? Do you have any conscience? Did you even get my permission?"
Jerry said in a deep voice, "President Miller, your daughter is pregnant, are you still going to force her to work?"
Robert and his sisters were stunned for a moment, speechless. The shareholders, however, were abuzz with discussion.
"Chairman, please think it over. The purchasing department is so important; the position of department head should not be changed lightly."
"Maternity leave might affect the entire purchasing department. Should we have her work remotely?"
"Couldn't you at least discuss this with us?"
Jerry ignored the crowd and calmly said, "Let's begin the vote. We'll allocate the weights according to shareholding percentages. Who agrees, and who disagrees?"
Anyway, he has absolute control, and he can pass the resolution with one vote regardless of whether the shareholders agree or not.
Everyone present was stunned. Jerry was so adamant, directly initiating this voting process with no room for negotiation.
Normally, all companies would consult with their major shareholders first, rather than being so direct.
The vote results are in, and the majority voted against it. Only Jerry agreed, but he alone could make this decision.
"The procedure has been approved, so Ena has officially resigned from her position as head of the purchasing department." Jerry said with concern.
"Go home and take good care of yourself during your pregnancy. The company will always welcome you."
"As soon as you give birth, I will hire you back to the company."
Everyone present looked dazed. Could it be that Jerry was genuinely concerned about Ena, instead of wanting to fire her?
Ena looked surprised: "Can I go back to the company after giving birth?"
"That's right." Jerry smiled faintly.
"You're my older sister, how could I mistreat you? You're overthinking it."
If Ena wants to return to the company after giving birth, I will arrange for her to clean toilets. He was happy to spend several thousand yuan every month to humiliate her.
Upon hearing this, Robert and the others exchanged glances, momentarily confused about what Jerry was up to.
At first, they thought Jerry was going to oppose them, but now they feel that he is still the same as before.
After the meeting, the shareholders dispersed.
Robert and his family remained seated, preparing for a denunciation session.
Robert stopped Jerry, who was about to leave, and said, "Stop right there! Dad has something to ask you!"
The shareholders glanced at Jerry with a mocking look. Based on past experience, Jerry was going to get punished for being disobedient.
However, many shareholders had complicated expressions, as they had already noticed that Jerry was different from before.
After everyone had left, Jerry looked calmly at Robert and asked, "What is it?"
Robert snorted angrily: "I'll give you some face in front of outsiders, but now that we're behind closed doors, you'd better answer me properly."
"Why didn't you discuss such a big thing as getting married, or removing your eldest sister from her position? Do you still consider yourself a member of the Miller Family?"
The eldest sister shrieked, "Well, you've grown wings now, you even dare to fire your own sister."
Jerry smiled faintly: "Is it you two who want to get married, or is it me who wants to get married?"
"Besides, your daughter is pregnant, are you going to force her to go to work? Wouldn't paid leave be better?" Robert's face turned green with anger.
The eldest sister was so angry that her chest heaved violently.
Did she think she was the head of the purchasing department because of that meager salary?
They were after the kickbacks that allowed them to abuse their power for personal gain!
Jacob said sincerely, "Brother, you're going too far! Lele hasn't even agreed to marry you."
Jerry stared at him and smiled faintly: "Jacob, I remember you're not a shareholder of the group, are you? Why are you here at the shareholders' meeting? Do you really think the group is a joke?"
Jacob's expression turned unnatural, and he looked to Robert and the others for help.
The second sister shrieked, "Didn't I tell you to give Jacob ten percent of the shares? doesn't that make him a shareholder?"
Jerry tidied up the documents and said calmly, "We'll talk about that later. I have something to attend to." Having said that, he got up and left, ignoring everyone's attempts to stop him.
Robert slammed his fist on the table and stood up angrily: "You beast, you've really gone too far!"
The second sister snorted: "But he's honest enough. He probably only let her rest because he cares about the eldest sister. Besides, he's already agreed to marry Lele. He didn't dare to refuse the shares he promised to Jacob." Robert and the others nodded, thinking that Jerry was still as easy to bully as before.
"Jacob is so old now, how can he manage without some capital?" The Third Sister agreed.
"If he had any conscience, he would give it to him."
Jacob said somewhat aggrievedly, "Ten percent of the shares is quite a lot. I'm afraid Brother Jerry wouldn't be willing to part with it, would he?" These words aroused public outrage.
"You're his brother. He has so many shares. What's wrong with giving you 10%?" The third sister said fiercely.
"If he dares not to give it to me, I'll slap his face until it's bruised."
Everyone dispersed.
Jacob received a call from Lele, and the two met at a hotel.
Lele cried until her eyes were red and swollen, and hugged Jacob: "Jacob brother, I'm going to marry that good-for-nothing. I really can't bear to part with you. I want to be your wife."
Jacob's hand skillfully slipped inside her clothes: "I'm sorry to have to put you through this. Once you divorce him and make him leave with nothing, we can get married openly and honestly."
"We can't make our relationship public yet, otherwise all my fans will leave."
"That good-for-nothing is easy to bully, how could he be worthy of me?" Lele's beautiful eyes were filled with tears as she let Jacob's hand grope inside her clothes.
"Don't worry, even if I marry him, I will never let him touch me. You are the only one in my heart."
"After you marry him, we'll have to be careful together, so he can't find anything wrong with us." Jacob said with concern, "I'll take good care of you today."
After saying that, he pulled down Lele's top, revealing her smooth and fragrant shoulders.
"Yes, before I get married, let's have sex a few more times." Lele's eyes were filled with deep love.
A few hours later, the two finished showering and ordered takeout.
For a full day and night, the two of them did not leave the hotel, and even called staff to clean the room.
Little did they know, both the delivery drivers and the staff were actually private investigators in disguise.
