Chapter 1 - The Moment She Disappeared

Sierra POV.

I ran toward the empty building of our university, still under construction.

He was waiting for me, the man I'd loved for two years.

When I reached my destination, I saw my man waving at me while smiling sweetly at me.I was lucky no one else knew how sweet he really was, I was the only one who did.

Damian Ravenscroft, the love of my life. Known as the so-called 'Mr. Grumpy' on our campus. He's so stingy with everyone yet he's so sweet in front of me. And I'm loving it.

"Lovey!" I called him as I approached.

He ran his fingers over my cheeks and tucked my messy hair behind my ears.

"Look who's here? My oh-so-pretty lady lovey dovey." His soft, warm voice sent me butterflies through my stomach.

I reach his hands on my face and close my eyes. Feeling his touch so tenderly.

"I've missed you, lovey." I opened my eyes and looked at him teary eyed just so he knew how sad I am not to see him this weekend.

"You missed me that much huh?" He chuckled and gave me a peck on my lips.

Feeling his lips made me want more, but we couldn't do it here. I laughed at the thought, feeling so shameless.

"I've been wanting to ask you… how long are we gonna hide our relationship? I want them to know I already have you. They've been following me non-stop."

His mood shifted suddenly, from happy and sweet to tense and uncomfortable. Well, I can't blame him. Being the only son of the richest family, he was obviously the heir.

Aside from that, being handsome probably became a bonus that's why every girl on our campus desires him.

They were desperate for a chance with him now since we're graduating and their chance to meet him will probably drop to zero percent.

"Uhm… I would love to. You know how I wanted to tell them that you're mine already. But I can't. If we announce our relationship, it might be the last day of my life just so they can have another chance with you." I calmly explained to him.

I don't want him to feel that I'm not proud of him.

"Actually, you know that better than anyone." I laughed softly when I saw him steadily staring at me just to kill the awkward vibe between us.

Is he mad at me because I keep declining?

"You're right. Then, let's announce it once we graduate so that they won't know where you are. I'll keep you in my pocket." He jokingly said to me so we laughed together.

See? That's why I love him. He always makes sure to respect my decision. I promise, I won't leave this man no matter what happens."

When I look at him again, his face is slowly disappearing.

"Lovey?" I called him softly but he didn't seem to hear that I just called him.

His smile remained, but his body slowly faded from view.

I was too stunned to speak. Too shocked to react. But inside of me was freaking out.

___________

"Ms. Delacroix…?"

I heard someone call me by my last name. I couldn't see anything but darkness.

*Beep… Beep… Beep*

Suddenly, a sharp beep echoed in my ears.

I slowly opened my eyes, realizing I had been asleep before the sounds began.

I was blinded by the sunlight. I couldn't see anything so I tried so hard to blink repeatedly. When my eyes adjusted to the light, I saw a white ceiling with a woman wearing a white gown that seemed waiting for me to open my eyes.

Maybe she's the one I heard calling me earlier.

"Ms. Delacroix?" I heard her call me again.

I stared at her and was about to speak with her when I felt a dry sensation on my throat.

I realized I was wearing an oxygen mask that made me uncomfortable too.

"Ms. Delacroix, can you hear me?"

I tried my best to answer just so I can let her know that I'm attentive to her.

"Y-yes…"

"Do you know your name?"

"I'm… Sierra De-Delacroix…"

I answered her questions, even though I had no idea what was happening. I'm completely confused right now.

"Do you know where you are?" She asked again. She looks like a doctor who's currently asking me questions as part of a routine check.

"Am I… in a hospital?" I lazily answered her and turned my head to look around,

I saw my mother crying, but you can see her eyes were filled with joy while looking at me.

She seemed to be fighting herself to run towards me.

"Mom…" When I called her, she couldn't resist anymore and hurried towards me.

"Oh my god! My baby…" She cried and smiled in relief at the same time. She hugged me so tightly like I was sleeping too long.

"Do you remember what happened to you before you got here?" The Doctor asked again. This time I paid attention to her.

I quickly recalled what happened before I got into the hospital.

I was in a car accident…

I quickly covered my mouth in shock of what I remembered.

My mom hugged me again but this time in pain and heartache for me.

I cried in agony. My Damian is probably worried about me right now. I was about to meet him in our favorite dating spot but I got into an accident.

I wondered how he is doing right now. Is he wondering what happened to me now?

"Eveything looks normal for now but we will run a test for better understanding of your condition. I'll leave you with your family for now."

The doctor excused herself.

My mother faced me and gently wiped the tears from my cheeks.

"Is something hurt on you? Tell me." My mother worriedly asks.

I just shrugged and wiped the remaining tears from my cheeks.

I badly wanted to see him right now. I knew he was probably frantically looking for me.

"Is there anything that you want to eat? I'll do my best to get it for you." My mother tried her best to console me.

I smiled at her to let her know I'm fine. I keep making her anxious because of me.

"I just want curry, mom. Mom's curry is the best." I told her cheerfully to prevent her from worrying even further.

I'll think about Damian later. My Lovey is the best. I know he would understand.

My mother stood and opened the window. I saw the high building outside the hospital room where I am.

"Your sister will be here later, are you fine by yourself? I'll make sure to come back with a lot of curry that my daughter wants." She sat beside my bed and gently caressed my hair.

I just smiled and nodded at her to give her assurance that I'm fine.

She stood again and was about to go but when her hands reached the door she looked at me for the last time. She smiled in relief like that I was fine all this time after the incident.

When she got out, I turned my head and scanned every corner of my hospital room. I saw the monitor beeped steadily, displaying the rhythm of my heart beats. IV was dripping while hanging silently.

Everything was silent except for the beeping of my heart monitor.

I saw a remote in the bed side table, I grabbed it and turned on the television.

I quickly flipped through every channel so that I could find something to watch but I stopped abruptly when I saw a familiar face appear on the screen.

It's him… right? But how?
