The hotel room was on the eighth floor.
Alex swiped the card. The door clicked. He pushed it open and stepped aside, letting Leo enter first.
Leo walked in.
It was a nice room not the kind of luxury Alex probably had access to in bigger cities, but clean, warm, a king bed against the far wall and windows that looked out over the city lights.
A desk near the window. A small couch. A bathroom with the light still on from housekeeping.
He turned back to Alex.
The door was closed.
Alex was standing there, watching him.
Neither of them moved.
Then Leo crossed the room and Alex met him halfway and they came together like something folding shut like a door closing against the cold, like the last piece of a puzzle finding its place.
Leo's arms wrapped around Alex's neck. Alex's arms locked around Leo's waist.
Leo pressed his face into Alex's shoulder and Alex buried his face in Leo's hair and they just held.
No words.
Just the shape of each other.
