Chapter 3 - Dungeon Of Greed

[Congratulations, Kael, you have become the owner of the dungeon: Dungeon Of Greed.]

For a few seconds, Kael didn't know what to do. Should he be happy, sad, surprised, or what now that he had apparently become the owner of a dungeon?

As the initial shock calmed down, tried to understand the situation with a calm perspective.

'What the hell is going on…' With his train of thought, one thing was clear, he hadn't succeeded in being calm.

Tsk!! This system… why the hell is it throwing one thing after another? Why isn't it letting me process one thing before jumping onto another… Being slightly angry, he didn't know what to do.

Pinching his eyes, he sighed and then looked at the notification with

'Dungeon!?... owner! me?' Looking at the panel, Kael couldn't figure out how things had turned out like this.

'Was it because of that ruin…' Remembering the distinct shock he had felt after touching the sigil, Kael was about to nod his head but stopped.

'Hmm! Now that I remember… wasn't I already had the dungeon master authority?' he remembered the first few notifications that had greeted him.

Shake!!... crunch!!

Kael was still in the midst of figuring it out when the world around him began to change. The darkness ran away as light, almost blinding light, filled the cave.

Shit..

Frowning, he closed his eyes, and the moment he did so, Kael felt it.

The world around him had begun to change. He didn't know how or why it was happening… but it was the truth. He could feel strange vibrations coming from all sides of him.

Crackkk!!

He could feel things getting destroyed, new things getting added, and a hundred more things.

A strange itch began to appear as Kael wanted nothing more than to open his eyes and gaze upon the change happening around the cave. But, he stopped as something… his instinct told him not to do that.

Being a mercenary, his instinct was already trained against hundreds of situations and he wasn't stupid enough to go against it.

'Nahh! Man hadn't curiosity killed the cat… better to live than being six feet underground…. Huh! If I think about it… ain't I already six feet underground…'

Still keeping his eyes closed, Kael began waiting for whatever was happening to finish.

'Dungeon of greed...' Suddenly, the name of the dungeon appeared as he began thinking what it could imply.

'First of all, there are dungeons in this world... so I really am transported to a world of fantasy…' Remembering about two or three books he had read, he smiled.

Will there be dragons... elves maybe!? Huh! What about fairies… hmmm! succubus… Would be great if that were to be the case?... licking his lips, he thought about many more opportunities this world could provide him.

As he was thinking about this fantastical world, Kael suddenly remembered his own. And the moment he did so, the scene of betrayal played right in front of his eyes.

Remembering the look his partners were giving while shooting couldn't help but made him hate them with pure passion.

'I would find a way to kill those fucking bastards… but first there has to be a way to return to my own world. There must be a way?'

Kael was intrigued by what he had experienced till now in this world, but in the end it wasn't his own. Deep down, he wants to get back to his own and take revenge.

'... the moment I come there it will be yours all last..' Shaking his head, he tried forgetting about them and instead spent his energy on thinking about better things.

'hmmm! I can access the system even with eyes closed... now that's what I call a great setting…' Nodding his head, he looked at the timer. There was still one and a half minutes left before the upgrade.

Kael was about to think about other things but stopped noticing that everything stopped around him. The vibrations around him had stopped and he wasn't hearing other things as well.

The changes must have finished. He tried opening his eyes, and the instinct wasn't warning him now. It was safe to open his eyes.

'Shall we take a look...' Not knowing what to expect, Kael opened his eyes slowly. Even with the slightest opening, he could sense one thing.

It wasn't pitch black anymore.

'Finally some light...' Wondering where the light was coming from, he opened his eyes fully. And the moment he did, a wave of awe along with shock hit him.

"No shitt!?" Kael muttered in amazement as he found the once boring cave transformed into something else entirely. The change had happened so much with such great magnitude that Kael didn't even know where to begin.

First of all, the hard stone surface was no more, and instead in its place lies something else. Now the floor looked striking with strange runes forming patterns all around it.

Kael could feel some meaning behind those patterns but was still a little lost. Not only that, now its high ceiling was crowned by a grand chandelier that glimmered softly with dim light.

And at the very far end of the hall, slightly raised above the floor, stood a throne. A throne so striking that Kael couldn't help but move toward it instinctively.

A strange sense of greed appeared in his mind as he thanked the master who had crafted this thing. Appreciating its beauty, he hastened his feet.

Made completely out of gold, it had a high back decorated with detailed carvings and patterns. The armrests and legs were thick with a few gems here and there.

Reaching it, he touched the armrest slightly and stood there blankly for a while. Suddenly, a smile appeared over his head as he turned and sat upon it.

'Now... this is what I call being sick...' Putting his left leg upon the right, he looked at the room with a smirk. He was still in the middle of getting the feel of it when the System announced.

[The upgrade has been completed.]

[Kael, you can see your status now.]
