[What was her name?]
"Who?" Lorelle asked, walking down the hallway. A large number of students dressed the same as him moved past and around him in both directions.
[The girl you are doing all of this for. What is her name?]
"I don't want to talk about her," he muttered, following the students ahead of him since he had no idea where the classes were held.
[Fine. But tell me, why did you throw away your name and decide to take on Ryan?]
"Shut up."
[You truly are one of the most foolish humans I have ever known. How can you let yourself be driven this much by emotion?]
"Why don't you ever get tired of this topic? Aren't you tired of saying the same thing over and over again?" he muttered, closing his eyes briefly.
[You are WEAK, and you will remain WEAK if you don't let go of this fantasy and accept the fact that you are Lorelle the Villain. If you keep playing the lover, you will die a pathetic death.]
Not that I care.
[You are sick. You need help, you obsessed psycho!]
AHHHHH! Can you stop being so goddamn frustrating! Just learn to shut up sometimes!
[Fine. But remember this. You can never have a happy life, at least not in this world. It's impossible, and you will only make your life more pitiful by holding onto those wishful dreams.]
"…" Lorelle stayed quiet.
A soft chiming sound broke the silence and the elevator slid open.
He followed the students in front of him inside, slipping to the back where he leaned against the flat metal wall and closed his eyes, trying to settle his scattered thoughts.
[Corruption. You say that's what you fear, but the truth is you just want to run away from what you've known since the moment you woke up in this world.]
He sighed, frustrated with the constant nagging.
[You are nothing but a loser if you keep your whole life centered on one dream, one dream you know deep down isn't real.]
She is real. Don't say that again. Ever.
[Fine. Let's see how far you get with all of this.]
Tell me something, Zel. Why do you keep obsessing over the merge? What's in it for you?
[Nothing.]
Yeah, right.
[Here's a question for you. How are you even sure that girl is in this world?]
She is. Stop trying to tell me otherwise.
[Alright, let's assume she is here, the reason behind every decision you've made up to this point. Let's assume she really exists in this world. What would you do if she turned out to be one of the children of destiny, fated for the son of the WILL? What will you do if she turns out to be one of those heroines, as you call them?]
"…" He kept quiet and tried not to think about it.
Of course he had considered that possibility before, but he dreaded it, because her being a heroine meant that all of this effort, all of this torment, all of this suffering, was for nothing. Heroines are always fated for a hero, and you can't change that.
[Well, since you choose to shy away from your fate, maybe you can accept losing your dear lover to the son of the WILL.]
"I SAID FUCKING SHUT UP!" he screamed, and for just a moment his ash-white eyes shifted to amethyst before reverting back.
"I… I…" He heard the sound and turned to find a frightened girl staring at him, and at that point everyone in the elevator was looking at him because of his outburst.
Crap, he thought, and then he caught a familiar face in the crowd, looking at him with absolute disgust.
