Wen Tingyu and Song Ciwan walked side by side.
The two strolled slowly along the wide rampart path as a cool night wind blew. Wen Tingyu turned to Song Ciwan and asked a question, her voice tense.
She asked Song Ciwan, "Fairy, is what you said just now about the great calamity... is it true?"
Song Ciwan replied bluntly, "Of course it's true. How could I possibly make up something so important?"
Wen Tingyu froze. The surge of emotions she had felt while watching the battle, followed by the shock and worry after it ended, all melted away into a single, bitter smile.
'I have a million things I want to say,' Wen Tingyu thought, 'but right now, I don't even know where to begin or what to ask.'
After a long moment, they had crossed the wide rampart path and were approaching the stairs of the gatehouse. Wen Tingyu finally found her voice. "In that case, Xing Lan Fairy, would you like to meet with the Grand General again to inform him of this matter?"
