Chapter 4 - Chapter 3: Overexcitement

With Nami's skills, she shouldn't have been discovered, but women are sensitive—even the prostitute who had been beaten into unconsciousness suddenly woke up.

Then, Nami, who had just managed to open the door, and the prostitute locked eyes with each other. As Nami tried to stop the prostitute, the Butcher also woke up.

The Butcher was someone who valued treasure above all else; otherwise, he wouldn't have brought a prostitute onto the ship.

He had always been on guard against the prostitute stealing his wealth while he slept, so he wasn't sleeping deeply.

After discovering Nami entering the room, seeing her dressed like a thief, the enraged Bakar directly threw the prostitute who was lying on top of him at Nami like a weapon.

Although Nami dodged the flying prostitute, who crashed through the wall and flew out, she couldn't dodge Bakar's next attack.

The furious Bakar sprang from the bed like a fierce tiger, throwing a punch at Nami. She barely managed to raise her combo staff in front of her to block.

Bakar was a pirate with a bounty of 15 million berries—his base strength was at least ten times that of an ordinary person. How could Nami's combo staff possibly withstand Bakar's furious punch?

The fist easily broke through the combo staff, but the staff successfully bought Nami an opportunity. The punch that was originally aimed directly at Nami's chest only struck her right shoulder.

If Bakar's punch had hit Nami's chest, she would have died from ruptured organs.

Even though she was only hit in the shoulder, Nami still felt like her shoulder was about to split apart, and her body flew backward uncontrollably.

Although Nami was an ordinary person compared to the Butcher, her physical condition was much stronger than that of a normal ordinary person. Before landing on the deck, she could still adjust her body to land feet first.

The prostitute beside Nami was far less fortunate—not only was she thrown out and smashed through the wooden wall, she also crashed directly onto the deck. Whether she lived or died would be up to fate.

Holding the Devil Fruit in his hand, Jake rushed frantically to the front of the deck. Seeing Nami lying on the ground, he shouted in shock: "Nami! Are you alright!"

The Butcher Pirates' ship was quite large, with a length of several dozen meters—not like the small ship Merry.

Running from the storage room at the back of the ship to the front deck took Jake more than ten seconds.

Seeing Nami injured and fallen, the anxious Jake was too focused to notice what had actually happened, and rushed directly toward Nami.

Seeing that this idiot Jake hadn't run away upon hearing the commotion but instead rushed toward her, realizing she hadn't saved him in vain, Nami felt happy but also worried.

"Jake, run! Don't worry about me, I'll be fine."

Obviously, someone wasn't listening.

Just as Jake reached Nami's side, the entire ship shook. It turned out that the Butcher, holding a large sword, standing over two meters tall with muscles bulging like a giant bear, had jumped onto the deck.

"So you have an accomplice! But you dare to covet my treasure with just this? Do you think my title is just for show?"

Holding the large sword, with a massive build and an imposing tone, but with only a bedsheet covering his lower body, Bakar looked somewhat strange no matter how you looked at him.

"Huh? What's happening!"

The two drunk pirates on night watch were finally awakened by pirate Bakar's roar, but they were still in a drunken haze, confused and disoriented.

"Useless!"

With his treasure being stolen, the furious Butcher didn't attack Jake and Nami first. Instead, he walked over and gave two slashes to the two pirates who were still drunk.

Splat! Splat!

Blood splattered. The two pirates who hadn't sobered up would never have another chance to wake up. Two perfectly good heads fell to the ground along with the blood.

Even though the firelight at the front of the ship seemed ready to go out at any moment, Jake felt he could see so clearly—two living people had just been killed right in front of him. Those two heads rolling on the ground, their eyes wide open in death.

The scene before him was a bit too much stimulation for Jake. Even specially trained soldiers would vomit for half a day the first time they saw someone killed and wouldn't have an appetite for several days, let alone Jake who was just an ordinary person.

Thud!

Jake was fairly bold, but seeing two living people have their heads cut off right in front of him—receiving such a shock, with adrenaline surging—left him overexcited and unable to control his body.

When people receive a shock, there are generally two situations: one is being directly scared weak in the legs, the other is overexcitement where the body also becomes uncontrollable.

Jake was in the second situation. The immense sense of crisis made Jake want to fight desperately even when facing the vicious pirate, but his body wasn't under his control. His legs stumbled instead, causing him to fall to the ground.

"Jake, are you alright!"

Seeing Jake suddenly fall, a startled Nami ran toward Jake, enduring the pain.

The various excessive reactions, both psychological and physiological, made Jake desperately want to respond to Nami, but he was so agitated his face flushed red and his body trembled violently.

Jake opened his mouth, trying hard to make a sound, but couldn't say even a single word—just opened his mouth.

Seeing Jake in this overexcited state, Nami was at a loss. She already regretted bringing Jake along; she hadn't expected him to have such a strong reaction.

"Hahahaha, I thought the little thief who dared to steal my treasure would be formidable! Turns out it's a greenhorn who's never even seen blood! What a waste, hahahahaha!"

Jake's wretched appearance, thinking Jake was scared silly, amused Bakar, the butcher who had stained his hands with countless innocent lives.

After speaking for a while, Bakar quickly fell silent, his vicious gaze turning toward the two of them.

"Even this kind of waste dares to steal my treasure—what utter humiliation. Go to hell!"

With that, Bakar advanced toward the two of them with his blood-dripping sword.

Seeing this, Nami grabbed Jake to run, but at this moment Jake was too agitated, unable to control his body, having almost completely lost mobility. Nami's own hand was already injured—how could they possibly escape?

"Damn it, for God's sake, fucking move!"

Watching Bakar approach step by step, Jake was roaring madly in his heart, but his body just wouldn't obey.

His condition was like having excessive adrenaline secretion, his body overexcited, trembling all over continuously, but no matter how much he wanted to move, he couldn't. His body was completely out of control.

"Jake, move! Otherwise we're both going to die."

As Bakar closed in step by step, Nami anxiously pushed and pulled at Jake while roaring, but Jake showed no reaction at all.

Hahahaha!

Approaching step by step, watching one person paralyzed with fear and the other desperately trying to pull, Bakar laughed with delight.

At this moment, Jake was also roaring madly in his own heart: even if I die, I have to at least bite this guy!

Watching the blood-dripping blade get closer bit by bit, Jake's brain had issued tens of thousands of commands, but his body showed no response—as if given too many commands, his body didn't know which one to execute.

"Idiot! It's all your fault, now I'm going to die too!"

Seeing Jake completely unresponsive, in her anger Nami's iron fist directly punched Jake on the head.

Thunk!

A large bump swelled up on Jake's head, but it also flipped a certain switch—Jake's body finally began to move.

The Devil Fruit in his hand went into his mouth. He took a bite, and the surging adrenaline made Jake forget the taste of the Devil Fruit.

Gulp!

After chewing a few times, Jake swallowed it down.

In such a situation, seeing Jake still in the mood to eat, when just moments ago he'd been so agitated he couldn't move—not just Nami, even Bakar was stunned.

Speechless! Absolutely speechless!

Did he want to die on a full stomach? Jake put on a demonstration of what it meant to swallow something whole.

Looking like a starving ghost, Jake soon showed an expression of difficulty swallowing—clearly choking.

Nami stared at Jake in a daze, but quickly snapped back to her senses.

Slap!

A crisp slap echoed through the night. After Nami struck him, his throat moved, and Jake finally swallowed the Devil Fruit.

The flesh of the Devil Fruit was quite hard; forcing it down without properly chewing hurt terribly.

As the Devil Fruit went down, an unprecedented awful taste flooded into Jake's brain. Having held back from vomiting even after witnessing the beheading, he now began retching violently. The Devil Fruit tasted absolutely horrible, but a warm current spread through his abdomen.

Jake's series of actions left even Bakar completely baffled, and he burst into laughter.

"Boy, if you want to die, I'll give you a quick slash! Can you even die like this? Hahahaha!"

Compared to the Butcher's mockery, Nami concernedly patted Jake's back, but her pats grew increasingly forceful. Somewhat angrily, she scolded: "Idiot, even if you're afraid of dying, there's no need to kill yourself!"

Being berated by Nami, Jake had no time to respond. He could feel his body undergoing drastic changes.

Just as Nami patted Jake again, an electric arc suddenly burst from his body, shocking Nami into instantly pulling her hand back with a cry of "Ah!"

The Devil Fruit's power overflowed within him, transforming his body. His body, weakened from transmigration and growing younger, recovered. The adrenaline spike from witnessing death also subsided into fatigue.

Jake's changes weren't only internal—his exterior was transforming as well.

His appearance could only be described as decent, but his skin was somewhat dark and rough.

In just a few breaths, all of that vanished. His skin became fair, smooth, and elastic. His facial features were refined, and even his physique and contours became flawless. His skin even had a mysterious radiance flowing across it.

Most importantly was Jake's appearance—if before his looks rated a seventy, now he'd broken past the hundred-point limit.

With the fruit ability's enhancement, Jake could confidently say that no one could beat him in looks.

"Jake!"

Though the bow's lamplight was weak, Jake's body seemed to be glowing. When Nami clearly saw Jake's face, she called out somewhat dazedly.

Though Nami hadn't fully matured yet and was malnourished, still somewhat unrefined, she was already among the finest of women. This made Nami completely uninterested in ordinary men, but seeing Jake's face again, she felt her heart pounding wildly. She forgot all about the danger—she only wanted to gaze at that face forever.

The agitated state completely vanished. At this moment, Jake felt his entire body brimming with power.

Jake, who had been half-kneeling on the ground, stood up and looked toward Bakar.

Even though he preferred women, when Bakar saw Jake's current face, his heart also began to pound.

Jake's charm had maxed out completely. It could no longer be described with words like beautiful or handsome. Like Empress Boa Hancock, the charm emanating from his fruit ability was at a level that could captivate men, women, young and old alike.

While Bakar was entranced by Jake's beauty, Jake had already made his move.

Being so agitated he couldn't control his body was utterly humiliating. Jake wanted revenge.

Jake raised his hand, aiming at Bakar. Electric arcs crackled along his arm, and a blue-white lightning bolt shot from Jake's palm.

Boom!

The lightning pierced through the air. The heated air expanded, producing a sonic boom.

Everyone only saw a flash of light, heard a roar, and saw Bakar's hair stand on end, his chest scorched black, with branching discharge patterns crawling across his skin.

The lightning strike penetrated straight through Bakar, hitting the wall behind him. The wooden ship's hull caught fire.

Ah! Ah! Ah!

Nami's intrusion and Bakar using one of the prostitutes as a projectile had already terrified the two women in the captain's quarters who hadn't been affected. The sudden lightning strike made the two women scream even more frantically.

Perhaps because Jake had just eaten the Devil Fruit and hadn't mastered the ability yet, or perhaps because people in the pirate world had strong resistance to lightning and tremendous vitality—even though he was scorched black all over, Bakar didn't die.

Taking such a heavy hit, Bakar didn't fall. Instead, like a wounded tiger making its final counterattack, he swung his greatsword with both hands, intent on splitting Jake in half.

Facing Bakar charging at him ferociously like a tiger, Jake chose not to dodge. He simply stood there.

The dazzling lightning had already jolted Nami back from Jake's beauty. Seeing that Jake wasn't dodging Bakar's lethal slash, Nami was terrified.

"Jake!"

Though Nami called out a warning, it was already too late!

Seeing Jake not dodging, standing there with a serious expression, Bakar thought the boy had been scared stiff. A hint of triumph appeared on his grotesque face.

Bakar's slash, delivered with tremendous force, had power enough to cleave through giant trees and split mountains and rocks. Jake merely slowly raised his hand to block. The mountain-splitting slash struck Jake's fair, slender hand.

In Bakar's imagination, his strike would surely cleave this brat who had injured him clean in two. But that didn't happen.

The greatsword Bakar had paid a fortune for, sharp enough to cut a hair blown against it, couldn't harm Jake in the slightest. The keen blade striking his hand couldn't even break his tender skin.

"Impossible!"

Bakar looked at Jake in disbelief. Nami, frightened as she was, also stared at Jake in shock. Neither understood how Jake's slender arm could defend against the cleaving greatsword.

Before Bakar could react, Jake struck back. Feeling the power within his body, Jake threw a punch.

A white halo emanated from his fist, condensing into a white aura shield, and he struck Bakar square in the chest.

Crack!

The air made a shattering sound, and tiny cracks appeared across the surface of his fist.

Boom!

The vibration force erupted, producing a terrifying shockwave. The shockwave transformed into a violent gale. Struck in the chest by Jake's punch, Bakar flew backward like a cannonball.

Great mouthfuls of blood sprayed from Bakar's mouth, mixed with fragments of internal organs. Jake's vibration punch must have shattered Bakar's insides.

Flying backward, Bakar crashed through the ship's hull behind him, giving the pirate ship a clean hole from front to back, then slammed into the sea surface, raising a massive splash.

In the year 1520 of the Sea Circle Calendar, in the East Blue, the notorious pirate known for his brutal methods of pillaging, burning, and slaughter—the Butcher—died on an unknown night.
