Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Lying is bad

How do you know when the world will end?

Is it from strange prophecies?

Natural instincts of those with powers?

Or a great natural catastrophe?

In the end, all of that is just impending doom...

But what... what if? A noble soul, destined for greatness—destined to be one of the "12 Moons."

The 12 Moons: beings beyond reality, who have surpassed the limit called a "limiter" and become infinity itself.

So what happens if one of those destined to be "infinity" becomes corrupted?

Would the world face disaster?

No... no... it's not a matter of time. Once a destined one is corrupted, the world is already destroyed.

Then what happens if the world is destroyed? What becomes of the other Moons?

The "Akashic Record" would fix that...

Its power is immense, yet it has restrictions—as the foundation of knowledge and reality, it can grant immortality and godlike power. But like all things, it has limits. It cannot change the fate of the Moons.

So what would it do? Prepare for impending doom?

No... it will seek help from somewhere... somewhere taboo!!!

It's a gamble: will it save the world, or even kill the one who summoned it???

...

I'm like a gamer—an addict, to be specific.

I told my parents I'm a fresh graduate... but I didn't even finish college. In fact, I never went back to school after high school, and they have no idea.

I get by on my allowance, but barely—I spend most of it on games every week. So I'm stuck eating nothing but ramen and eggs...

Well, it's all okay, I guess—I have my best friend, after all.

Right... my best friend isn't a person or a pet. It's just a game: Great Moon: Apex of Disorder. It's an academy and tower-themed game that was originally a novel before being adapted.

It's wildly popular, with millions of players—but it costs a lot to get past level 10, so most people drop it.

After three years of playing, I'm finally on Tower 99—just one more tower to go before I complete the game.

But as I was about to start the final level... the screen cracked.

"What? What happened?"

Did I punch it too hard yesterday? But it's the latest model—it should be sturdy!

I reached out to touch it, then froze.

"What... what... what is this?!"

A hand emerged from the screen—but calling it a "hand" was an insult. It looked divine... maybe it was divine, but I had no time to think before it wrapped around my wrist.

"No! No! No! What the hell is this?! Is this karma for lying to my parents?! Please—please, I'm sorry! I'll tell them the truth, I swear! I'll get a job, go back to school—anything! Just don't take me! I don't want to die!"

Tears streamed down my face as I begged, my voice cracking and trembling. I pulled back with all my strength, but it was useless—the hand was already dragging me toward the glowing screen.

"F-fuck this...—"
