Chapter 1 - Collision

Chapter 1: Collision

Rain poured over the city in sharp, relentless sheets. Neon lights blurred against wet asphalt, and the hum of traffic became a distant rhythm under the storm. I was rushing through the crowded streets, my umbrella barely holding against the wind, trying to make it to the bookstore before it closed. Books were my escape, my only place where the world felt under my control.

I didn't notice him at first. Not until a collision nearly sent me sprawling across the wet sidewalk. A tall figure, sharp in his tailored coat, caught me mid-fall.

"Watch where you're going," he said, his voice low and controlled, almost arrogant.

I looked up, blinking in surprise. His eyes… icy gray, sharp as a blade, studying me like he already knew my secrets. There was a coldness in him that made my spine stiffen. "Excuse me," I muttered, pulling my coat tighter, trying to keep my heart from racing.

"I don't excuse careless people," he replied, a small, almost amused smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.

I should have walked away. I should have ignored him. But something in the way he stood there—like he owned the street, like the storm itself bent around him—made me freeze.

"You think you're untouchable?" I asked, surprising myself. Maybe it was the anger from being soaked, maybe it was the adrenaline.

"I think I know exactly what I want," he said, and for a second, the world narrowed down to the sound of his voice, the rain, and the electric tension between us.

Then he turned and walked away. But the way he moved… it wasn't just leaving. It was claiming. Like somehow, in that brief encounter, he had left a mark on me I couldn't shake.

I didn't know it yet, but our paths weren't going to cross by accident again. And I certainly didn't know that the enemy standing in front of me today would be the man who would eventually own my heart.

The rain fell harder, washing the streets clean, but it couldn't wash away the strange, lingering feeling of… inevitability.
