Chapter 1 - The Fire Inside

The summer in Bhubaneswar was hotter than ever. The sun burned above the old streets, and even the wind felt warm. But for 16-year-old Arjun, the heat outside was nothing compared to the fire inside his heart.

Arjun loved cricket. Every evening, he played near the small temple ground with his friends. His dream was simple but big — to play one day in a stadium like Barabati Stadium and hear the crowd cheer his name.

But life wasn't easy.

His father worked long hours at a small repair shop. Money was tight. A professional cricket kit was too expensive. While other boys had shiny bats and branded gloves, Arjun played with a cracked bat taped at the handle.

One afternoon, during an important local match, the sky looked like it was on fire. The temperature was unbearable. The opposing team laughed at Arjun's old bat.

"Is that a toy?" one boy joked.

Arjun didn't reply. He just gripped the handle tighter.

The match began. First ball — he missed. Second ball — almost out. His friends looked worried. The heat, the pressure, the teasing… everything felt too heavy.

Then he remembered his father's words:

"Real strength is not in what you have. It is in what you believe."

The next ball came fast. Arjun swung with all his heart.

Crack!

The sound echoed across the ground. The ball flew high… higher… and landed beyond the boundary. Six runs.

Silence. Then cheers.

Ball after ball, Arjun played like the fire inside him had turned into power. Sweat covered his face, but his eyes shone brighter than the sun.

They won the match.

That evening, as the sky turned orange, a local coach who had been watching from a distance walked toward him.

"You have talent," the coach said. "Come tomorrow morning. Let's train properly."

Arjun looked at his father, who had quietly arrived to watch the end of the match. His father smiled — proud, tired, but happy.

The heat of summer would pass. But the fire inside Arjun?

That was just beginning.
