"I'll pay the bills, Catherine." Chris announced and her face lit up.
"Really?"
"Yes but on one condition." He said.
"Anything Chris, please anything to save my Shawn." She pleaded.
"I'll pay the bills if you agree to marry me." He dropped the bombshell and Catherine's face dropped in horror.
"Marry—marry...you? I...I don't un—understand Chris." She stammered, shocked that such sentence came out from her husband best friend's mouth.
"Let's not pretend Catherine, you know I've always liked you alot. And I want to help, but I'm afraid I can't if you don't agree." He said firmly, like he meant business.
"Chris, You're my husband's best friend! This isn't right! What would people say? Besides I still love my husband very much, and I don't plan on cheating on him..."
"He's dead, Catherine!" He said coldly and continued "Accept it already! A dead man can't do nothing and I'm your only option right now, besides who cares what people would say?"
She stared at him, not believing this was the same Chris she had known. "Look, please just lend me the money, I'll pay back." She pleaded, but he only looked away.
"When you change your mind, you know where to find me." He said coldly and walked away, leaving her shattered.
Catherine began crying again, She knew Shawn wouldn't approve, even if he was dead. But how was she going to save her only child? Her only memory of Shawn.
Tears streamed down her face as she remembered the day like it was yesterday, the day Shawn left and never came back.
She blamed herself each passing day, it was because of her that her husband never returned. And now she's left with his only memory 'Shawn jnr' who in turn might leave her soon.
Her son had brain tumur and she had to raise two million for the surgery. She had no source that could provide such amount, she already sold their house but it wasn't enough, her Mother-in-law tried helping but there was only little she could do.
