Chapter 2 - The City and the shop

The game does not do Night City justice at all.

The city is way bigger and brighter, it also smells bad, and that is because there is trash everywhere. Heck, even in the game you basically see trash everywhere.

Anyway, I am driving on the roads of Night City, aka The City of Dreams, which is a lie because this city is horrible. This whole world is horrible, really, and it needs cleansing due to how the planet is basically dying at this point.

But don't worry, I am going to fix this world up the best that I can.

Right now I am on my way to a hardware store, because I really want some proper tools for what I am planning to make next. It is kind of cool and fairly easy to make, so I just need to pick up a few things.

After some driving and avoiding the cops, I finally got to the hardware store. The place is kind of empty for a hardware store, but I guess that makes sense because this is Cyberpunk.

I am kind of nervous to go in there, because I am full organic with no chrome at all, and I will most likely get a lot of looks. I don't like that kind of attention, but I need these tools, so I have to suck it up.

I hop out of the car, lock it, make sure it looks good, and then head straight into the store.

Entering the store, I grab a cart and start looking for the things I need. I am not really worried about the prices, because I have the money I took from Dexter's body, so I am going to use that.

After walking around and looking for a while, I figure out that I am in heaven. They have some tools here that are not a thing in my world, and I am jealous of that, but it is what it is.

I am also getting looks, just like I expected, and it is kind of uncomfortable, but I am going to have to get used to it. Honestly, I might never get any cyberware put into my body. I like my body the way it is. The most I might ever do is my eyes, to help me with building things.

After about a full hour, I am checking out. I ended up getting more things than I planned and spending more money than I hoped for, but it is worth it in the long run because I am going to be using all of these tools a lot.

Here is a little tip for when you are buying tools: if something is pricey but you know you are going to use it a lot in the future, you might as well buy a good one, because it will be worth it in the long run. And this is not just for tools. It applies to everything you plan to use for a long time, so keep that in mind.

"You get everything you wanted, monk?" the guy working the checkout asked me as he scanned my items.

Monk?

Well, I mean, it kind of makes sense that he called me that, because the only people in lore who don't have chrome are monks.

"Yep, I got everything I need," I answered as I took out the cash.

"Good, so that will be about 698 eddies."

That is not a bad price at all for everything I got. Plus, I am planning on upgrading the tools myself if I have to.

"Here," I said as I handed him the cash.

And before I knew it, I was back at my car and putting everything into a storage container I also bought for my tools.

Once I did that, I hopped in, turned her on, and started to drive.

Where to, you may ask?

I am going to look for an abandoned mechanic shop to use as my little base for a while.

Why?

Because as much as I have no problem working out of my van and sleeping in it, I am going to need space for some of the things I plan to build. Plus, I need somewhere to work on the van itself.

And where am I looking for an abandoned mechanic shop?

Around Lizzie's Bar, because it is kind of the safest bet for me. The Mox is the nicest and relatively safest gang to be around, which is why I want to stay near them and Lizzie's Bar. Plus, if I can get on their good side and sell them little gadgets, I could earn their protection so that people will not come looking for me.

After driving for about twenty or so minutes, I think I found a good spot, but I have to make sure it is really abandoned, and there is only one way to do that.

Before I went inside though, I wanted to make something to help me open the doors. So I sat in the back of my van and got to work fast.

It took me about ten minutes to make the little tool I needed. The way it works is that it sends a small electrical command to the panel, and that command forces the door to open without damaging any of the inner workings.

I hopped out of the van and made my way to the building, went around to the back, and pressed the tool against the panel to open the door.

And the door opened, just like it was supposed to.

I stepped inside with the gun in one hand and my phone with the flashlight on in the other, and I started looking around. Luckily, the windows are all boarded up, so nobody is going to see me from outside.

I checked the whole building as thoroughly as I could and found that the place had been abandoned for a few years, so I doubted anyone was going to have a problem with me settling in here for a bit.

I opened the garage door, went and got my van, and drove it inside. Then I hopped out and pulled the garage door back down.

With that done, I needed to fix the lighting situation, so I went to track down the breaker box.

It took me a few minutes to find it, and it was annoying because it was hidden behind a bunch of stuff.

I flipped a few switches and everything lit up like a Christmas tree.

There is also a ridiculous amount of dust in this place. Holy crap, I have a lot of cleaning to do.

If this place is going to be my base and workshop, it has to be clean and tidy, because I really do not like having a dirty space that is mine.

So, time to get cleaning.

.

.

.

Personally, I find cleaning very relaxing, and I like having everything nice and tidy, at least to a degree. It does not have to be perfect, just tidy enough that I know where everything is at a glance.

But whoever was here before had no idea how to organize anything at all, and it made me really frustrated while I was cleaning the place up.

Anyway, I am done cleaning now. It only took a few hours, so it was not too bad.

Now I have to do some work on the base itself. Just minor things, like upgrading the cameras, reinforcing the doors, adding better boards to the windows. Just enough to make it much harder for people to break in, since I will be keeping things here and using it as my workshop.

The first thing I did was take down all the cameras and go find the computer they were connected to.

Once I found it, I took all the cameras apart, because I wanted to add some upgrades. I added a thermal feature so they can pick up people using Optical Camo by detecting the heat from their bodies. I also added measures to make the cameras harder to track and harder to destroy.

Then I turned one of the cameras on, pointed it at myself, and checked the feed on the computer to test whether it worked. It did, exactly as I wanted.

So I put them all back up quickly, because I am not comfortable being out here at night.

Once I got back inside, I decided to focus on the doors. I am leaving the window boards for later since I do not have the right materials for that yet.

I got through the doors quickly, with each one taking about ten minutes. Easy enough. Then I moved on to fixing up a few other small things around the place.

After I finished everything I needed to do, I sat down on a couch that was already here and let myself relax, taking in everything that had happened in just the last twenty-four hours.

"I might never see my family again..." I said, feeling the tears fall from my eyes.

I had been trying not to think about that at all, keeping myself busy building things with my Tinker powers so I would not have to face the reality of my situation.

But now that I am sitting down and trying to rest, I cannot run from the truth anymore.

"This sucks so fucking much..." I said as I wiped the tears that kept falling no matter what.

So I decided to let myself cry like a child, because it is better to do it now than to hold it in for later.

I spent the rest of the night weeping for my family.

Because that is all I could do, since I have a feeling I am never going home to see them again.

[AN: Hello Goblins, it your favorite Hispanic daddy here with a new chapter for this fanfic.

I have said this before and I will say it again, a MC that have be dragged to another world against their will and if they had a happy family, they should be sad and emotional about it like a normal person should be about that.

In lore, The Mox gang are the less aggressive and they don't really hurt other people, they are just a gang that protect each other and sex workers from getting hurt which is good and I really don't cause if most of them are sex workers because they are doing it to survive in Night city.

Also Night City is a very huge city and the game does it not justice at all, it basically like Tokyo and it have a population of like 7 million of people so the city is really huge.

And this story will get dark at times due to all the nasty shit that happen in Cyberpunk.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy the story and comment on it if you want to.]
