Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: First Time Going Out

After settling A'Yao, Gu Han's figure flickered, and she instantly appeared above the Yaochi Immortal Palace.

Her Divine Sense, at the Ascension Realm, spread out like an invisible tide, instantly covering an area of ten thousand li.

Soon, she locked onto a city located about a thousand li to the northeast of this mountain range.

The city was bustling with people, and the aura of Cultivators was faintly mixed within, which met her requirements.

Gu Han looked down at her exquisite body, with silver hair like snow.

"If I go out looking like this, I'm afraid I'll be surrounded and stared at..."

With a thought, spiritual power circulated within her body. Her flowing, snow-like silver hair gradually turned into an inky black from the roots, cascading softly behind her.

Then, she took out a veil and gently covered her face, leaving only her clear eyes exposed.

She raised her hand, and a water mirror condensed before her.

Reflected in the mirror was a woman with black hair like a waterfall and a lightly veiled face.

"Hmm... not bad."

Gu Han nodded, very satisfied.

"Going out like this, I won't attract attention or encounter harassment!"

She moved, taking a few steps, and had already crossed thousands of mountains and rivers, arriving outside the city.

Three powerful characters were carved on the city gate: Wanshan City.

The city walls were towering, built from huge black stones, exuding a rugged and sturdy aura.

The city gate was bustling with carriages and horses, Mortals, Martial Artists, and low-level Cultivators came and went in an endless stream, making it quite prosperous.

After paying a Low-Grade Spirit Stone as an entry tax, Gu Han followed the crowd into the city.

Inside the city, it was even more boisterous. Shops lined both sides of the wide streets, and hawking cries filled the air.

Medicinal Pill shops, Magical Artifact pavilions, auction houses, restaurants, inns... everything was available.

Gu Han had a clear goal and first headed towards a rather large auction house — the "Hundred Treasures Pavilion."

Stepping inside the pavilion, a cool sensation brushed her face, clearly indicating the presence of a simple Spirit Gathering Formation.

There were many customers in the shop, mostly Qi Refinement Stage and Foundation Establishment Stage Cultivators, with a few Golden Core auras occasionally appearing.

Gu Han restrained her aura, appearing like a female Cultivator with considerable cultivation but unwilling to show her true face.

A shop assistant immediately greeted her, sensing Gu Han's unique temperament, and his attitude was exceptionally respectful:

"Welcome to Hundred Treasures Pavilion, Fairy!"

"May I ask if you are here to purchase items or to auction something?"

Gu Han's gaze swept over the dazzling array of shelves, and her voice, muffled by the veil, calmly listed a series of items:

"Jade Slips recording geographical oddities, Spiritual Plant atlases, and detailed Yao Beast explanations—I'll take as many as you have."

"Also, I'd like some high-quality Spirit Rice and a few Magical Robes suitable for children."

The shop assistant's eyes lit up. This was no small business; if it went through, he would get a good commission.

Although the items requested were not high-grade, the quantity made up for it.

Especially those basic Jade Slips, which usually didn't have many buyers.

"Fairy, please wait a moment. I will go prepare them right away!"

The shop assistant scurried off to the storeroom to retrieve the goods.

While waiting, Gu Han seemingly casually strolled around, but in reality, her Divine Sense subtly moved, quietly gathering conversations from other customers in the shop and pedestrians on the street.

"Have you heard? Something big happened at the border! They say a mountain disappeared out of thin air!"

"It's more than just disappeared! It left a huge pit, smooth as a mirror! Everyone is saying a powerful being moved mountains and filled seas!"

"They say that phenomenon was earth-shattering at the time. Could it be that some rare treasure appeared, or... a certain powerful expert had a Breakthrough?"

"Shhh... be careful what you say! How can we, mere Mortals, presume to speculate about existences of that level?"

Fragmented information converged in Gu Han's mind, giving her a clearer understanding of the commotion she had caused.

Indeed, the commotion she made during her Breakthrough was too great, attracting a lot of attention.

"Fairy, all your requested items are ready!"

The shop assistant returned, beads of sweat on his forehead, followed by several Porters carrying large boxes.

"A total of three hundred seventy-five Jade Slips of various types, and five sets of robes for young girls."

"The total is three thousand nine hundred ten Low-Grade Spirit Stones. We'll round it down to three thousand nine hundred for you!"

Gu Han's expression remained unchanged. She raised her hand and waved, taking out the corresponding number of Low-Grade Spirit Stones and piling them on the empty ground beside her.

"Count them!"

The shop assistant quickly scanned them; the number was correct, and his face instantly broke into a wide smile:

"Yes, yes! Fairy is truly generous! Please keep these safe!"

Saying this, he handed over several low-grade Storage Pouches, into which all the goods were packed.

Taking the Storage Pouches and putting them into her sleeve, Gu Han left the Hundred Treasures Pavilion.

With the large quantity of basic supplies she had purchased, she strolled leisurely through the bustling streets of Wanshan City.

Having resolved the issues of daily necessities and lack of information, she felt much more relaxed.

But then, she remembered the "fun things" she had promised A Yao, and her brows couldn't help but furrow slightly.

Buying toys for a four or five-year-old girl with the mind of a child... this was truly difficult for her.

She had lived two lives, whether as a Corporate Drone in modern society.

Or as an Ox-like Laborer struggling for survival for ten years in another world, she lacked experience in raising children.

Candied Hawthorns? Rattles? Cloth Tigers?

These mundane children's toys seemed unworthy of her status as the founding Disciple of the Yaochi Immortal Palace.

It also made her, the "Master," seem a bit unrefined.

"Magical Artifact toys?"

Gu Han's gaze swept over the Magical Artifact shops along the street, which mostly contained standardized items like Flying Swords and Talismans, offering little in the way of entertainment.

Moreover, with A Yao's current Qi Refinement Stage cultivation, she wouldn't be able to use them yet.

As she pondered, she wandered aimlessly, unknowingly arriving at a relatively quiet street.

The shops here had more elegant decorations, and the items sold tended to be ingenious curiosities and trinkets.

Just then, her gaze was drawn to a shop named "Skillful Crafts Pavilion."

The shop front was not large, but some exquisite mechanical creations displayed in the window made her eyes light up.

There were wooden butterflies that would automatically dance, small bronze birds that could mimic bird calls, and intricate, nested puzzle boxes... "Quite interesting."

Gu Han's heart stirred, and she stepped inside.

The interior was decorated in an antique style, and the air was filled with a faint mixed scent of wood and machine oil.

A white-haired old man was hunched over a desk, carefully adjusting a gear mechanism.

Sensing someone enter, the old man didn't even lift his head, merely saying blandly:

"Feel free to look around. If you find something you like, it's not too late to ask for the price."

Gu Han didn't mind his attitude and browsed on her own.

The spiritual power contained within these mechanical creations was minuscule.

However, the ingenious ideas embedded within them made even her, a Transmigrator, feel a touch of novelty.

Finally, her gaze fell upon a lotus platform, about the size of a palm, entirely made of some light purple material.

The lotus platform was exquisitely crafted, with layered petals and clear veins.

In the center of the lotus platform, several Spirit Stones were embedded, forming a miniature spirit-gathering and levitation Formation.

"This item is called the 'flowing light lotus platform'."

The old man, at some point, had raised his head and, looking in the direction Gu Han was gazing, introduced it,

"Inject a trace of spiritual power, and it can float in the air and emit light. It's a nice trinket, and it's excellent as a bedside lamp for children."

Gu Han picked up the lotus platform; it felt warm and smooth to the touch.

She tried to inject a trace of spiritual power.

The lotus platform indeed hummed softly, left her palm, and floated in mid-air, slowly rotating.

It emitted a faint purple glow, truly exquisite and lovely.

"This is good."

Gu Han nodded. A Yao would probably like such a pretty and fun item.

"How many Spirit Stones?"

"Fifteen Low-Grade Spirit Stones."

The old man quoted the price.

Gu Han readily paid the money and put the lotus platform into her sleeve.

With her purchases complete, Gu Han was satisfied and prepared to return to the Yaochi Immortal Palace.
