Chapter 1 - The Curse of 20

The moon loomed over the castle like a watchful eye, the palace was in chaos as the queen's cries could be heard through out the palace.

Inside the grand marble hall of the Night blood Kingdom the white witch clan, shadows whispered as the royal cry rang out. The princess , heir to the celestial throne had just been born.

But she wasn't crying.

She lay still, her tiny body unmoving. Cold.

Gasps filled the air. The queen wept. Even the king's hands trembled in fear.

Then, just as despair settled over the court like a shroud, the princess eyes flew open. Her eyes was stormy blue-gray in color, her pupils dilated too sharp for a newborn, and a high, piercing cry shattered the silence.

The princess have come to life.

And with that the Seer stepped forward.

Her voice, which is aged with heavy prophecy, echoed like a curse:

"The heir to the Night blood throne shall perish on the dawn of her twenty birthday… unless the key is found."

The nobles murmured among themselves. The king's face darkened. The queen clutched her child tighter.

"Can anything be done to stop this curse?" King valtar asked putting himself together.

A pause. The Seer's milky eyes stared ahead into the abyss.

"Yes. She said. The key lies hidden... in the mortal world."

"The key? What kind of key?" king valtar demanded to know.

"When it is time, the key will reveal its self." And with that, the hall fell into a silence deeper than the grave.

16 Years Later

Princess Isolde stood motionless before the royal court, her stormy blue-gray eyes blank, unreadable. The whispers never stopped.

Five years.

Five chances.

One fate.

King valtars command was final: the princess would leave the kingdom , disguised, protected, and sent into the mortal world to find the key that could save her life.

And the princess would not embark on that mission alone. With that kael a young man about the princess age step up and stood beside.

I will go with her your majesty. Kael said with his head facing the ground, he dare not stare at the king.

Kael, her sworn guardian and childhood companion, was already at her side. Loyal, quiet, and lethal when needed, he had vowed to protect her with his life. He always did. With that both embarked on a mission that they don't know what fate hold for them.

Arriving as strangers in a strange land. Isolde took the cover of a high school girl, with kael taking the cover as her rich uncle. Isolde was enrolled as a high school kid at Blackmore high school.

Fate doesn't wait.

---

"I don't think this is necessary, my princess," Kael muttered under his breath as they crossed the busy school. with heads turning and young ladies screaming in excitement as they walk pass the school environment gasping "We should focus on the mission. Find the key."

"Key, key, key…" Isolde sighed, exhausted from the whole key issue, all she want at the moment is to take a break and live a life. Away from her father she have finally gotten her peace they is no way she is allowing kael ruin it. "That's all anyone talks about."

She turned to him with a smurg face. "I know I need to find the key, like I know I have to find it alright,Kael, but how can I find something I've never seen? Or don't even understand?"

His jaw tightened, but he said nothing.

"Let's just enjoy this moment," she said, brushing a breeze-tousled curl from her face. "I promise, you won't regret it." All you have to do is to manage the company at least for the next five years and avoid bankruptcy. We are already fortunate enough to be sent down with a golden spoon.

"But His Highness—" Kael began.

"Forget my father," she said sharply, then softened. "And stop calling me 'princess.' We're not in the kingdom anymore, remember?"

She patted his shoulder lightly. "Here, I'm just Isolde. And you're not just my knight — you're my best friend. Or "should I say my uncle" Isolde teased.

She walked ahead, her boots crunching against tidy floor of Black more, unaware that fate had already begun to stir. Kael followed in silence, his eyes scanning the shadows.

Because the danger they left behind… was nothing compared to what waited ahead.

Isolde stepped through the gates of Blackmer high school, her steps graceful but firm. Her eyes, stormy with secrets, scanned the busy school environment as the morning sun cast a soft glow on the buildings.

"This isn't necessary, Princess," Kael had warned again that morning, his voice calm but firm.

After the registration, Kael watched Isolde walk toward her classroom. Only when she disappeared through the doors did he turn and step into the waiting luxurious car. The driver pulled away smoothly, leaving the school behind.

Inside the car, Kael rested a hand against his jaw, deep in thought. The search had to begin immediately. The key—whatever it truly was—had to be found.

As a powerful heir, he intended to use every connection at his disposal. Wealth, influence, information—nothing would be spared. His mind drifted back to his conversation with the king the night before their departure. He could still hear the weight in the king's voice as Kael had sworn his loyalty.

Protect the princess at all costs. Bring her back safely the king had said to him.

"I won't fail," Kael muttered under his breath.

Turning to his secretary, he spoke firmly.

"Go to the market. Buy every key you can find—antique, ordinary, magical, meaningless. Bring them all to me."

Michael, his secretary, blinked in confusion. "Every… key, sir?"

"Yes," Kael said without hesitation.

Though puzzled, Michael nodded. "Understood."

Isolde stepped into the classroom, the soft murmur of students quieting as she stood before them. The homeroom teacher smiled politely.

"Please introduce yourself."

Isolde lifted her chin, a gentle smile gracing her lips.

"My name is Isolde. Nice to meet you."

Her voice was calm, almost melodic.

Among the students sat Jace—well-known, popular, and famous for his flirtatious nature. Yet for once, he was completely frozen. He stared at Isolde, dumbfounded, as though the world around him had ceased to exist.

Gasps rippled through the room. Though Isolde had disguised her appearance, she still stood out effortlessly. Her once golden hair now shimmered in a soft brown shade, and her stormy blue grey eyes—deep and striking—caught everyone's attention.

She walked quietly toward an empty seat.

"Hey—come sit here."

Jace's voice rang out.

"Whoa…"

The classroom erupted into excited whispers and soft screams.

Jace gestured for the boy seated beside him to move. The young man hesitated but quickly stood up and took another empty seat across the room he couldn't bear to disobey the Smith heir.

Isolde paused for only a moment before walking over and sitting down. Jace couldn't tear his gaze away from her, fascination written plainly on his face.

The homeroom teacher cleared her throat.

"Now that everyone is settled, let's take attendance. Please answer when your name is called."

The room slowly quieted—but the tension lingered.

Throughout the class—from beginning to end—Jace's eyes never left Isolde.

The final bell rang, echoing through the hall. Class was over for the day.

Isolde stood and began packing her books, ready to head home. Jace rose from his seat, intent on approaching her, but before he could take a step, his two friends—Dave and Andrew—dragged him back down.

"Don't tell me…" Dave smirked knowingly. "She's your new crush now, Jace?"

"You can't blame him," Andrew added calmly, resting a hand on Jace's shoulder. "The girl is pure beauty."

"Ahh—" Jace scoffed, shrugging their hands off as he stood.

"I've got this," he said confidently, already moving.

He dashed out of the classroom after Isolde, who had disappeared into the hallway.

"Aah—!" Isolde yelped as she bumped into a student riding past on a bicycle. Her books scattered across the floor.

She bent down quickly to gather them—but a hand reached them first.

Slowly, Isolde lifted her head.

Her eyes met his.

"Hi," the boy said, flashing a wide, charming smile. "I'm Jace."
