Chapter 8: What We Found
Keifer's POV
The moment Jay left the classroom, the noise level dropped.
Not completely.
But enough.
Rory leaned back in his chair. "Bro."
Wrdix turned his phone around slowly. "We found something."
I didn't move.
"About?" I asked, already knowing the answer.
"Your favorite enemy."
I rolled my eyes. "She's not—"
"Shut up," Yuri cut in. "Just look."
Rory connected his phone to the projector like this was a crime documentary.
On the screen:
Jay's old school.
Old photos.
Certificates.
Awards.
Felix blinked. "She was student council president?"
Cin frowned. "That doesn't match."
Scroll.
Debate champion.
Scroll.
Inter-school martial arts competition — winner.
Scroll.
Blaster leaned forward. "Wait."
There was an incident report.
Suspension record.
The room got quieter.
Rory read it out loud.
"'Physical altercation. Jay involved in a fight. One student hospitalized.'"
Emman whistled low.
"That's not normal."
Wrdix scrolled further.
Another record.
"'Used a pencil during an argument. Caused injury.'"
Felix looked at me. "Bro."
Cin muttered, "She doesn't look like that type."
Yuri crossed his arms. "People don't look like what they're capable of."
Rory smirked slightly. "There's more."
A blurry screenshot of a rumor thread.
"She beat a guy so badly he had to transfer."
"Anger issues."
"Dangerous."
The class was silent now.
Not joking.
Not laughing.
I leaned back in my chair.
Processing.
Felix shook his head. "That doesn't make sense. She jokes too much."
"Or," Blaster said slowly, "the jokes are a cover."
Wrdix added, "Apparently the boy she fought was a known bully."
Silence again.
Cin looked at me. "What do you think?"
I stared at the screen a little longer.
Jay.
The way she doesn't flinch.
The way she stares back like she's measuring you.
The way she never reacts first.
It clicked.
"She doesn't start wars," I said quietly.
Yuri raised an eyebrow. "You sure?"
"She finishes them."
Rory smirked. "So she's violent."
I shook my head slightly.
"No."
I stood up.
"She's controlled."
They looked at me.
"If she really wanted to hurt someone here," I continued, "none of you would be laughing right now."
Dead silence.
Felix swallowed.
"So… you're not scared?"
I scoffed lightly.
"Scared?"
I grabbed my bag.
"She fits."
"Fits what?" Cin asked.
I glanced around Section E.
The loudest class.
The most chaotic section.
The ones no one dares to control.
"She fits Section E."
Blaster grinned slowly. "You like dangerous."
I smirked.
"I like real."
As I walked out of the room, one thought stayed in my head.
She wasn't some innocent girl trying to survive here.
She chose not to react.
And that's different.
Because if those rumors were even half true…
Then the paper balls?
The teasing?
The testing?
She was holding back.
And for some reason…
That made me want to test her more.
Not to break her.
Just to see how far the fire goes.
