It has been almost a week since old Brer rescued young Lucas from the street.
As the sun rose today the young boy could be seen doing light workouts in the confines of his room.
He had been bed ridden for almost four days even with his absurd healing. Being pummeled by armored fists doesn't end well for a five year old. The cuts along his chest were not his only injuries. He had minor internal bleeding as well.
He had made a remarkable recovery despite the injuries he had sustained, leaving only scars.
Luca was standing in front of the mirror moving his hand over the scar. Still pondering over the events that transpired during the week.
Suddenly the door opened and Brer came into the house. He was wearing an old trench coat sewn with armor plates and a squint hat. He had his pair of blasters holstered at his hips.
"Slavo! Both the authorities and the cities under belly are on the move. Whatever happened to you has caused a stir." said Brer while taking a seat at the table.
"K'atini old man,Were you able to find anything about my parents?" asked Luca with concern.
"Nothing concrete. My contacts say they were injured quite severely. But they still live" said Brere with a serious face.
"I need to get to them," said Luca. "Aliit cuyir jaon'yc, Ni linibar naxter val". Worry and impatience evident in his voice. Brer looked at him with interest. He seemed to be concocting some plan or changing ones he had already thought of.
"That will be the difficult part. What I have been able to gather is that someone powerful wants you gone" said Brer. " Look kid. I know how important family is, better than most. But rushing in to reach them in the current situation will only make things worse" he said with a stern voice.
"But I have to get to them," said Luca stubbornly.
SIGH. "K'atini ad'ika,I understand your frustration, kid. I really do. But at the moment I can't get you to them. Doing so will not only put me and you at risk, but also bring danger to your parents" said Brer while looking at Luca with sympathy. "But I have been meaning to ask. Where did you learn Mando'a?".
It was confusing Brer, as the names of Luca's parents he had been given didn't belong to any mandalorian clan. But to a Kuati noble House.
"My mother taught me. She is mandalorian. Or she was, till she hung up her armor after meeting my father" explained Luca.
This greatly surprised Brer. But it also brought a bit of satisfaction. Satisfaction that even after leaving behind her past she still taught her offspring the mandalorian ways.
"Which clan did he belong to?" asked Brer.
"She was Clan Ordo. She still has family on Ordo" , explained Luca.
Brer went silent and started rubbing his chin in deep thought. He never thought the child he saved was kin. Osik! This changes everything. Now he had more incentive to make sure this kid survived. He finally came to a decision. To a mandalorian his clan came above everything else. Especially clan foundlings.
"Kid. You just took my retirement plan and threw it into a trash compactor", said Brer with a sigh.
He moved with purpose to a cabinet on the far corner. He pressed down on an indentation at the back. The Cabinet slid to the side revealing a small armory.
Within the armory the most eye-catching item was a crimson Beskar'gam with gold trimmings. With practiced grace Brer dusted off the armor and started donning it.
Luca stood there fascinated by the process and subtle aura being released by the armor and warrior. An aura which told of many stories of glories won in battle and tragedies overcome.
After about ten minutes out stepped a fully armored Brer. Gone was the dusty aging man. And in his palace stood a menacing warrior.
"Look kid, the only option you have is to come with me to Ordo. The clan can protect you. Plus we can send word to House Purkis, when your parents are up and about they can come find you" explained Brer.
Luca stood still, his young face furrowed, deep in thought. After what seemed like an eternity he finally nodded in consent.
Brer let out a sigh in relief. He didn't want to argue with a stubborn kid. Luckily for him Luca seemed more understanding than most kids his age. Especially after going through all that he had.
"Jate! Look on the bright side. You get to meet your mother's side of the family" Said Brer while patting Luca on his shoulder and with a smile on his face. " We will move out for the starport later tonight. There is a freighter heading to Mandalore. We can hitch a ride from there to Ordo. In the meantime we have some shopping to do."
Brer brought a small hooded jacket and gave it to Luca. Who just stared at it for a few seconds before putting it on and pulling the hood over his head.
The two slowly left their abode. Luca stepping out into daylight took the scene around him. Narrow side roads full of shops. People were moving about haggling with vendors, but most were rushing to work. With Corellia being a major shipyard, with multiple major ship building companies functioning out of the planet, most worked for or worked in enterprises someway related to this industry.
"Where are we going?" asked Luca.
"We need to get you something. No foundling will walk around so under-armored on m y watch" said Brer leading Luca down a narrow road.
Eventually they reached a weapons and amro shop. It was located at the mouth of an alley. Above it was a neon sign reading 'The Goran's Anvil'.
