Chapter 10 - Chapter Ten

(Greek Mythology) The Abyss of the Underworld

Chapter Ten

Hermera possessed an absolutely adorable and soft-spoken loli appearance, but her actions… Watching Hemera in the mirror unhesitatingly use her divine power to conjure a brick and smash it down on a hideous creature from the underworld, Tartarus couldn't help but twitch his lips and silently shift his gaze. This kind of quintessential Chinese tomboy was truly a long-lost sight.

As for why he was so certain, who else besides a Chinese person could wield a brick so skillfully? Although he had absolutely never done anything so uncouth, watching her still evoked a sense of familiarity.

However, Tartarus frowned slightly, somewhat puzzled. How did Hemera end up here?

Unaware that Tartarus had noticed her, Hemera was currently in distress, because she had gotten lost again. (Please note the word "again")

She was a transmigrator. Before transmigrating, she was just an ordinary girl who occasionally fantasized about what would happen if she transmigrated, but it was just wishful thinking; she didn't have high expectations. She wasn't so naive as to believe that reality would be as wonderful as described in novels. But the fact is, she really did transmigrate, and into Greek mythology no less.

Greek mythology, while sounding appealing—much better than the high cannon fodder mortality rates of games like Hunter x Hunter and Naruto—at least there was some guarantee of personal safety. However, the utter lack of moral boundaries was really unsuitable for normal people, especially women. What if someone took a liking to her and forcibly took her? There would be no recourse! How could she possibly live like that?!

Fortunately, she transmigrated into Hemera, the goddess of daylight. As the daughter of two Gatan gods, she had a powerful enough backer to ensure her future wasn't a concern. Her parents were loving, her family was happy, and she had a brother who unconditionally doted on her. So, aside from some initial unease, her life was quite easy and wonderful.

Okay, actually, there were some minor troubles. Looking at the identical scenery all around her, Hermella sighed resignedly. It seemed she was destined to never overcome her terrible sense of direction. Now, all she could do was hope her brother would find her soon.

She regretted her decision. She shouldn't have gone so far. Even someone as directionally challenged as her knew she'd never been here before. Her brother definitely wouldn't find her anytime soon, but she couldn't go back. Was she really going to have to stay here? While the vast fields of spider lilies were undeniably beautiful, after seeing them for so long, she was immune to their allure. Besides, the intense red was glaringly bright even in the darkness of hell.

So, where exactly had she ended up? Who was so bored as to plant so many spider lilies here? Everything looked the same, without a single landmark. She couldn't find her way at all.

While Hermella was internally grumbling, she had no idea that these many flowers weren't planted by some random person, but rather the result of her father and uncle's own foolish actions and subsequent punishment.

As you might have guessed from the mention of the sea of spider lilies, the place where Hemera got lost is the deepest level of Hell, where Tartarus resides. If it weren't for the extreme darkness of Hell, she might have been able to see a temple, or perhaps get even closer.

Looking at the image in the mirror, Tartarus hesitated for a moment, then decided to go see his little niece. He needed to at least stop her from continuing her ruthless destruction of the flowers; he didn't want to see a bare expanse of branches outside his temple—it would be too unsightly.

For convenience, Tartarus chose to teleport, and unsurprisingly, this startled Hemera.

"Hemera, how did you get here?" Looking down at the small girl before him, Tartarus spoke softly, his flat tone turning a question into a statement.

A figure suddenly appeared before her in the eerie, dimly lit environment. Before Hemera could recover from the shock, she heard these words and blurted out without thinking, "I got lost."

"Lost?" Lost all the way from near her home to the deepest level of Hell? Are you kidding me? That's almost half of Hell! How did you even get lost?

Tartaros looked at Hemera with the eyes of someone looking at a magical creature. He genuinely hadn't expected this fellow transmigrator to be so…interesting.

Hemera, somewhat embarrassed by her inadvertently revealing her terrible sense of direction, still couldn't help but look up, wanting to see the owner of that clear, pleasant voice. Okay, she admitted she was a sucker for voices.

Gods are generally very good-looking. She thought she'd gotten used to it after transmigrating, but she was still stunned. After regaining her senses, she knew the identity of the god before her. Besides her eldest brother, whom her parents had mentioned, who else could possess such outstanding looks?

"Your Majesty Tartarus." Having guessed Tartarus's identity, Hemera behaved obediently, though inwardly she was furious. So what her mother had said was true; Tartarus really was a young boy, and incredibly handsome!

"I'll take you back." Not knowing if Hemera could even get back on her own, Tartarus figured it was better to send her home now that he knew.

"Uh… um, thank you." The sudden change in environment startled Hemera before she could finish her thanks. Before she could say anything else, she watched Tartarus nod slightly and disappear from sight.

After watching Tartarus leave, Hemera stood there for a while. Although their conversation had been brief, she was genuinely curious about this god, so little described in Greek mythology. As the being closest to Chaos, the god of chaos, his unexpected youthful appearance and seemingly aloof personality belied his pleasant nature.
