Chapter Fifty-Five: Kissing In The Moonlight III.
Felicity's POV.
The private moment. The confession.
♪The life of the party, you're showing off again♪
♪And I'd roll my eyes and then you'd pull me in♪
♪I'm not much for dancing, but for you, I did♪
I rolled my eyes playfully at the lyrics coming from his phone, then glanced up at Chris.
"Yeah, it's true, I'm not much of a dancer," I said.
"I know," Chris replied with a small, playful grin.
I lightly pushed his shoulder with my hand. "Hey, don't sound so proud about it, Chris."
"I'm not proud," he said, laughing softly. "I actually think you dance beautifully, Felicity."
I raised an eyebrow at him. "You're only saying that because you're trying to impress me, Chris."
"Maybe I am," Chris whispered.
I shook my head, trying my best not to smile at him.
♪Because I love your handshake, meeting my father♪
"That part I love," I said, laughing out loud. "Handshaking my father at the hospital for the very first time as my fake boyfriend."
I smiled, making air quotes with my fingers in the cold air around the words fake boyfriend.
Chris laughed under his breath, his eyes shining in the moonlight. "I was so nervous that day, Felicity."
"You?" I asked, pretending to be completely shocked. "Prince Christopher Buckingham Blake was actually nervous?"
"Yes, I was," he admitted. "Your father was very intimidating."
I laughed softly. "My father?"
"Yes, your father, Felicity." Chris made a slightly nervous face.
"You're the prince, Chris. You're supposed to scare people," I teased.
"Not your father, Felicity," he admitted, his expression turning serious.
I burst out laughing at his honest expression.
♪I love how you walk with your hands in your pockets♪
"That I love too," I said, giving him a teasing smile. "It was so romantic."
"Very funny, Felicity," Chris replied, rolling his ocean blue eyes playfully.
I laughed and shook my head. Chris continued moving slowly with me beneath the bright moonlight, his warm hand still resting gently against my waist.
"I'm just sa…," I began to speak.
Before I could finish my sentence, Chris leaned forward and kissed my lips quickly. My eyes widened in surprise for a second. Then I pulled back slightly, staring straight at him.
♪How you'd kiss me when I was in the middle of saying something♪
"Oh," I said, finally understanding the song lyrics. "I see what you did there, Chris. That was really smooth."
Chris smiled innocently at me. "What did I do, Felicity?"
"You kissed me while I was talking," I said, narrowing my eyes at him.
"You were talking too much," he said with a playful grin.
My mouth fell open in shock. "Excuse me?"
Chris laughed softly. I tried to look annoyed with him, but the big smile spreading across my face ruined the whole act. I stared at Chris for a moment, my heart beating faster than it had any right to.
"That was very rude, Chris," I whispered.
"I know it was," he said, giving me a playful glare.
"And completely unfair," I said, folding my arms across my chest.
"I know that too. I'm sorry for being silly, Felicity," he said with a small, apologetic smile.
I narrowed my eyes at Chris playfully. "You're enjoying this far too much."
Chris smiled and pulled me a little closer to his warm chest. "Maybe I am," Chris whispered.
I shook my head, but I couldn't stop smiling at him. The song continued playing softly from his phone as snow fell all around us. The silver moonlight rested over the quiet garden, and for a few seconds, I forgot about everything waiting for us beyond those gates. It was just me and Chris, standing together in the snow and somehow, I didn't want this sweet moment to end at all. Then I stepped away from Chris.
He frowned, looking confused. "Where are you going, Felicity?"
"Nowhere," I said with a smile.
I walked a few feet into the fresh snow and looked down at the ground. A mischievous smile slowly curved across my lips.
Chris's eyes narrowed as he watched me closely. "Felicity."
I crouched down quickly and scooped a big handful of fresh snow into my palms. I pressed the cold snow together, rolling and shaping it until I had a small, solid snowball.
Chris stared at me in complete disbelief. "Don't do it, Felicity."
I looked up at him innocently. "Don't do what, Chris?"
His expression immediately turned suspicious. "Felicity, I know that look on your face."
I smiled. Then I turned quickly and threw the snowball straight at his shoulder. SPLAT! The snowball hit Chris right on target. Chris froze in shock. I covered my mouth with my hands, but a loud laugh escaped anyway. He slowly looked down at the snow scattered across his white shirt, then lifted his ocean blue eyes back to me.
"You didn't just do that to me, Felicity," Chris said.
I took one step backward in the snow, already laughing so hard. "I absolutely did, Chris!"
Chris stared at me for another second. Then his mouth curved into a dangerous, playful smile. "Oh, you have made a very serious mistake, Felicity."
My laughter stopped instantly. "Chris?"
He bent down and scooped up a big handful of snow. I screamed loudly and turned to run away from him.
I took another step backward, still laughing helplessly. "No, Chris! Don't do that!"
Chris's smile widened as he stepped closer to me. "Too late, Felicity."
He threw the snowball. It struck me directly in the middle of my forehead.
I gasped, my mouth falling open as cold snow scattered across my face, touching my nose and cheeks. "Oh my God, Chris!"
Chris burst out laughing, his deep voice filling the quiet garden. "You deserved that one, Felicity!"
"I did not!" I yelled playfully.
I bent down fast, scooped up a big handful of snow, packed it together as quickly as my cold fingers could handle, and threw it straight at him. The snowball hit Chris right in the chest.
Chris looked down at the snow covering his shirt, then looked back up at me. "You're really choosing violence tonight, Felicity?"
"You started it, Chris!" I protested, pointing a finger at him.
Chris grabbed another handful of snow from the ground. "No, you started it, Felicity."
"Okay, yes! I started it, but you were supposed to say, 'Stop, I give up!' You were supposed to look the other way and be a better man, not hit me. Please, Chris. Please, for me. Do it for me," I begged, putting on my sweetest, most innocent face.
Chris paused, holding the snowball in his hand. "Okay, I surrender. Only for you, Felicity, because I will do anything for you."
"Aww, that's so sweet. Sucks to be you, Chris! You lose!" I shouted happily. I threw my hidden snowball at him and hit Chris squarely in the chest again.
Chris gasped in fake shock. "Oh, you betrayed me! Now it's really on, Felicity!"
He threw his snowball. I ducked fast, and the snow flew right over my head. I laughed loudly and immediately threw another snowball at him. This time it caught Chris right on the arm.
Chris shook his head, laughing as he bent down for more snow from the ground. "Felicity, you're going to regret this."
"Catch me first, Chris!" I ran across the snow.
Chris chased right after me. I barely made it three steps before another soft snowball struck my shoulder.
"Christopher!" I shouted.
He laughed happily. "Got you, Felicity."
I spun around quickly and threw one back at him. It hit Chris right in the side of his neck. He stopped dead in his tracks. I froze in place. For one second, we simply stared at each other in shock. Then Chris laughed so hard he had to bend forward. I couldn't help it either. I started laughing too. Another snowball flew through the air. Then another one followed.
