Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Invitation

In a small, ancient - looking town in East Asia, there lived a young and curious man named Kaito. Kaito was of average build, with jet - black hair that fell softly over his forehead and deep, almond - shaped eyes that always seemed to be filled with a thirst for adventure.

One sunny morning, as Kaito was strolling through the town's narrow, cobblestone streets, he received an unexpected letter. The envelope was made of thick, yellowed paper, and the wax seal on it was imprinted with an elaborate symbol that he had never seen before.

Curiosity getting the better of him, Kaito quickly opened the letter. It read:

"Dear Kaito,

You are cordially invited to a grand gathering at the old and mysterious Fujiwara Mansion on the outskirts of the town. The mansion holds secrets that have been hidden for centuries, and we believe you are one of the few who might be able to uncover them. Come at the stroke of midnight tonight.

Yours sincerely,

An Anonymous Host"

Kaito was intrigued. The Fujiwara Mansion was a well - known but feared place in the town. It was said to be haunted by the spirits of the Fujiwara family who had met tragic ends there. Many people had tried to explore it over the years, but few had returned unscathed, and those who did were often driven mad by what they had seen.

Despite the warnings and the sense of unease that the invitation brought, Kaito decided to accept. He was a firm believer in facing his fears and uncovering the truth. As the sun began to set, casting an orange glow over the town, Kaito started to prepare for his midnight adventure. He put on a warm cloak, grabbed a lantern, and set off towards the Fujiwara Mansion.

As he walked along the desolate path leading to the mansion, the air grew colder, and the wind whistled through the trees, creating an eerie melody. The full moon rose high in the sky, casting an otherworldly light over everything. When the mansion finally came into view, Kaito couldn't help but feel a shiver run down his spine.

The mansion was a large, imposing structure with a sloping roof and long, narrow windows. The paint on the walls was peeling, and the wooden doors were slightly ajar, creaking softly in the wind. Kaito took a deep breath, steeled his nerves, and pushed open the doors.
