It had been far too long since Devon had left to meet with the general.
At first, I hadn't thought much of it. Meetings took time. Important people were rarely brief, and I was certain the general wasn't an exception.
But as the minutes stretched into what felt like hours, the silence inside his room became unbearable.

The slow way he'd kissed me.
I could still feel the ghost of his fingertips against my waist.
Still remember the warmth of his breath.
