Chapter 1 - He was world famous but kept his identity a secret.

1

On a cold morning in New York, there was a strange silence in the hospital corridor. The light on the white walls, the ticking sound of the monitor in the distance, and a man standing in front of the operation theater—dr: jemes. Whose name has been spoken with respect in many countries of the world, about whom research has been written in medical journals, whose touch has given new life to countless people. Whose reputation is known all over the world—today he is standing in front of his mother's operation theater.

His hands were shaking for the first time in his life.

Nurse Runa came slowly and said, "Sir, everything is ready. Will you come in?"

Jemes was silent. He was remembering his childhood days. In the small house in the village, his mother would pull him to her lap and say, 'You will become a great doctor, you will save people's lives.' That mother's life was in his hands today.

The operation began.

Four hours… five hours… six hours…

Drops of sweat were falling down James' forehead. The operation was complicated—a rare heart problem. Many doctors in the world did not dare to operate. Mother insisted, "My son will do it."

At the last moment, the monitor line straightened.

A long, cruel sound—tit tit tit—then silence.

James stood. His mother's blood was drying on his gloved hand.

He had lost… everything.

2

After his mother's death, he seemed to have become a different person. The hospital door, the stethoscope, the operating light—everything frightened him. One day, he packed all his awards, certificates, medals into a box. No one saw him again.

Friends searched for him, students called, offers came from hospitals abroad—but James did not respond. He hid in a small rented house on a corner of the city. He even changed his name—from Dr. James to just 'James'—an ordinary person.

At night, he could not sleep. He kept dreaming—his mother lying on the operating table saying, "You can do it, Dad…"

He could not.

3

This is how the years passed.

One evening, James was standing on the side of the road in the rain. His head was down, his eyes tired. Just then, an umbrella came forward.

"You're going to get wet," the girl said.

James looked. The girl's name was Marry. A nurse in a big hospital. There was a kind of calm light in her eyes.

That day, they stood at the bus stop and talked a lot. James kept his identity a secret and said that he was looking for work. Mary smiled, "People don't become bad even if they don't have work."

This one sentence lit a light in James's heart.

4

Friendship with Mary grew. Then love. Then marriage.

Mary knew her husband was unemployed. But she never insulted him. Instead, she would say every day, "You try. I am."

But society didn't stop. Hospital colleagues would say, "Is your husband unemployed? Does he live on the nurse's money?" Some would laugh, some would poke him.

Mehreen would feel hurt, but she wouldn't say anything when she got home. She would just sit next to James and make tea.

One day, James overheard someone on the phone saying, "Your husband is useless."

That night, he didn't sleep all night. A fire was burning inside his chest. But he controlled himself. Because he knew that if he told his past, everything would change.

5

One day, a big incident happened in the hospital. The son of a wealthy businessman needed a heart operation. The big doctors in the country failed to plan it. The operation was risky. No one wanted to take the responsibility. Dr. Henry remembered Dr. James. He thought that only Dr. James could perform that operation. Finding no other way, Dr. Henry then informed Dr. James about this incident and everything about the operation in another Gmail. He requested this as if he had performed the operation.

Mary was crying when she returned home. She said, "The boy will not survive."

James listened silently. Suddenly, calculations began to come together in his head. He took the paper on the table and started sketching the operation. A new method… a new way…

Mary was surprised and said, "You know all this?"

James didn't say anything. He just said, "Tell the doctors tomorrow to try this method."

6

The next day, Mehreen bravely showed the doctors the paper. Everyone laughed. But a senior doctor stopped. He said, "This plan… this is extraordinary."

"No one else is supposed to know about this plan except Dr. James."

Mary hesitantly said, "James is my husband."

Everyone was shocked. They called James.

Dr. James entered the hospital after a long time. His legs were shaking. The light of the operation theater took him back to those old days.

He said, "I can only try."

The operation began.

7

Hours passed. Everyone was holding their breath. James's hand was still—as it had been before. He used the new method. Slowly, the monitor line settled. The boy's heart started beating again.

The operation was successful.

Everyone was stunned. Then applause.

The senior doctor of the hospital said, "We don't want to lose you again, sir?"

James was silent. Mary said, "This is my husband… before… I didn't know he was such a great doctor." Then everyone requested Dr. James to work again. James agreed. Mary was proud of her husband.

Then everything was revealed. Everyone knew—this man was the world-famous surgeon. Who had disappeared after his mother's death.

8

The news spread. People heard his name again. The hospital wanted him back. The students came back. The media wanted to interview him.

But James just looked at Mary. He said, "I want to start again."

Mary smiled. He said, "That's what I wanted you to do."

9

Doctor James started operating again. But this time he was different. He saw his mother in the eyes of every patient. Before every surgery, he prayed. He taught his students—"Doctor is not just a skill, it is a responsibility."

One day, a little girl asked him, "Sir, how did you become such a good doctor?"

Arif replied, "By mistake."

10

Standing in front of his mother's grave, he said, "I am back, mother. I will not let anyone lose again."

The leaves of the tree moved in the wind. As if his mother was saying—"I know."

11

Time passed. Doctor James and Mary lived happily together. The days of humiliation became a story. Everyone in the hospital now respects Mary. They know—this nurse has brought back a great doctor.

Doctor James sometimes wakes up at night. But he is no longer afraid. Because he knows—failure did not break him, it made him a man.

12

One day, Mary said, "If you had not hidden your identity then?"

James smiled and said, "Then I would not have found you."

They both smiled.

It was raining outside. Like the day we first met.

The end.
