Chapter 1 - The Light of The Last Evening

It was a soft winter afternoon. The sunlight slowly melted into shades of warm orange as the day leaned toward evening. In a quiet neighborhood of Dhaka, above the noise of busy streets, stood a girl on a rooftop—her name was Meghla.

Meghla was simple in appearance. Large glasses framed her thoughtful eyes, and her hair was always tied in a slightly messy bun. But her smile—her smile was extraordinary. It felt like someone had lit a small lamp inside a dark room.

It was on that very rooftop that she first met Ayon.

Ayon had recently moved into the house next door. A university student, calm and reserved, he had come up to the roof on his first day to hang clothes to dry. That's when he saw her—standing by the edge, watching the sky as her scarf fluttered in the wind.

After a moment of hesitation, he asked,

"Do you come here every day?"

Startled, Meghla turned and smiled.

"Yes. The day doesn't feel complete if I don't watch the sky."

And with that small exchange, something quietly began.

🌼 The Beginning of Friendship

Every afternoon after that, they met. Sometimes they talked about the changing colors of the sky, sometimes about books, sometimes about their small dreams.

Meghla loved to talk about her wishes. One day she said,

"You know, I want to see the ocean someday. I want to fall asleep listening to the sound of waves."

Ayon smiled gently.

"Then I'll go with you. I won't let you go alone."

Slowly, their conversations grew longer. They shared tea in one corner of the rooftop, laughed under sudden rain showers, and found comfort in each other's presence.

One day, Meghla asked,

"Why are you always so quiet?"

Ayon paused before answering.

"Not everything can be said. Some feelings are meant to be felt."

She looked at him for a long moment. In her eyes, he realized—his feelings were no longer his alone.

🌧️ A Misunderstanding

Like every story, theirs faced a storm.

One day, Ayon stopped coming to the rooftop. Days passed. He didn't answer his phone. Meghla waited—first patiently, then anxiously, then painfully. Doubt began to grow in her heart. Maybe she had misunderstood. Maybe she had imagined everything.

Five days later, he finally returned. Dark circles framed his tired eyes.

Meghla's voice trembled with anger.

"Do people just disappear like that?"

Ayon lowered his gaze.

"My father was ill. I had to rush to our village."

Tears filled Meghla's eyes.

"You couldn't tell me? Just one message?"

He replied softly,

"I didn't think… you would worry so much."

She could not hold back anymore.

"You don't understand. I'm afraid of losing you."

That was the first time Ayon held her hand.

"I'm not going anywhere. As long as you come here to watch the sky, I'll be beside you."

🌺 The Confession

One spring evening, the air carried the scent of blossoms. The sky glowed pink.

Ayon took a deep breath.

"Meghla, I want to tell you something."

She smiled gently.

"Go on."

He looked straight into her eyes.

"Since I met you, every afternoon has become beautiful. I don't know if this is love… but I can't imagine my days without you."

For a moment, she said nothing. Then softly—

"Then don't imagine."

He blinked in surprise.

She reached for his hand.

"Because I can't imagine mine without you either."

That evening, it felt as though the sun took a little longer to set.

🌊 The Dream Fulfilled

One year later, they stood by the sea in Cox's Bazar. Waves rolled forward and touched their feet before retreating again.

Meghla smiled.

"Look… my dream came true."

Ayon squeezed her hand.

"Your dream has always been my dream."

The wind played with her hair, and he gently brushed it aside.

"Meghla?"

"Yes?"

"Will we always stay like this?"

She looked toward the endless horizon.

"As long as there is an evening sky."

He smiled.

"Then our love will never end."

Their laughter blended with the sound of waves, standing together in the golden light of the fadin
