Chapter 57 - [Update]

I have to once again apologise to all my dear readers who have been waiting for new chapters.

I'm about to go for a surgery in a few days, so after that, I can get back to writing. All though I can't promise how soon it will be, I am definitely not dropping this fic.

I still have many more ideas for Leon in Antarctica, Tomb of Ariel, and the Domain War.

Thank you for all the support on my last notice. I have no words to explain how happy I am for having people who don't even know me, support me. Pretty ironic considering I'm a writer lol.

Hope you all are doing well, too.

It has been tough to write for the past few days. Even reading feels exhausting. But I feel so bad for not being able to write anything, I'll give you a kind of sneak peak on the upcoming developments. It took me a while to write this. Ah...hospitals suck.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy this mini chapter.

As for what implications it will have, what secret easter eggs or foreshadowing you find, it is all upto your interpretation.

;)

Cassie was crying, her sobs echoing through the empty room, the only other sound being the machinery buzzing, keeping Changing Star alice.

Sunny stood there, his gaze furious. Although he didn't want to admit it, he had gone numb.

His chest burned, his fingers clenching so hard that blood poured onto the pristine while floor beneath him.

"Goodbye, Cassie."

The shadows enveloped him in a cold embrace, as he stepped out of the room as though he was never even there.

Minutes passed, as Cassie's voice grew quiter.

And then, it stopped altogether. So abrubtly.

Cassie slowly tilted her head towards Nephis.

Her pale hand rose, wiping away the thick remnants of the tears that flowed from her sapphire, blue eyes.

A soft sigh echoed through the room.

"This is...rather tedious."

She slowly stood up, and approached the old holding Nephis. She took a strand of white hair covering her stoic face, and pushed it aside.

"I don't know how much will change in these 2 years, Neph."

A soft smile tugged at her lips.

"It feels unreal to wait for you again, like this. Ah... How long has it been?"

"I'm...I'm sorry— my lady... I'm just not receiving any more visions..."

A small boy stood in front of the kneeling Ascended.

The Ascended was an oracle loyal to the Song clan. But for the past year, her ability had almost broken. As if there were no more divinations to make.

The boy narrowed his eyes onto her. He emanates an aura that suffocated the Ascended. His eyes looked hollow and dead.

There was silence for a while, before the boy eventually spoke. "Useless."

The Ascended flinched. Her body shuddered, as if she knew what was coming next. Her forehead smacked the floor, as she prostated.

"Please! Please give me another chance! I will not fail you..."

But the boy didn't respond.

The door at the far end of the room clicked open.

"Mother. There is some news..."

The boy slowly turned around.

She was already irritated by the fact that all of the seers in the Song clan had become useless almost overnight.

For the past year or more, not a single oracle in the entirety of the world — two worlds, even — were able to figure out what was wrong.

It was almost as if Fate had been changed. The threads interlapping and expanding, trying to correct itself against the changes that were brought by something unknown.

Or perhaps, someone unknown.

"It's Shan...she's back."
