Synopsis
“Ah… the world is ending.” Kamrik watched as the supposed “hero” was defeated and torn apart. He really had to wonder how he — an insignificant extra — had somehow ended up in the war that decided the fate of history. He couldn’t even learn magic! Not even a single unique origin spell. Meanwhile, the sky cracked, hope died, and panic spread across the army and the world beyond. Without their hero, there was absolutely no chance of winning. And as Kamrik stood there, about to die along with everyone else, he came to a realization. There was only one answer. Complacency. The hero was a god-gifted talent, blessed with divine favor, a prophecy carved into history itself — And a beautiful harem! He had been given everything on a silver platter his entire life. No wonder he grew complacent. Of course this is how it ends. As the world faded into darkness, Kamrik made a vow: If he ever got another chance, he would push that incompetent hero until he broke. He would never let him stagnate again. He would be that guy’s nightmare if he had to! Fortunately — for better or worse — the gods gave him that chance. Now armed with seven ghostly apparitions — alternate versions of himself carrying memories of their own world’s end — If the hero could not save the world properly… “Then I will.” “Even if I have to become the villain.”

Chapter 1 - World Ends, Everyone Dies.

"Ah… the world is ending."

Kamrik said, almost absently, as the hero was torn apart and killed.

As the sky cracked and the army scattered, he couldn't help but wonder how he got here.

"How did it come to this?"

He was just an extra in life. He had no real reason to be here. Even though he worked in the Intelligence HQ for the war — nothing more than a messenger running from one higher-up to the next — he should not have been on this battlefield at all.

He was practically a civilian.

The only reason he wasn't snuggled up in his bed right now was because he just so happened to attend one of the most prestigious academies focused on fighting the Corrupted.

The funny part?

He was part of the studies department, not combat.

He didn't even know how to swing a sword!

As Kamrik continued spiraling, wondering how his life had come to this, the small building he was in was obliterated by the Corrupted. His coworkers and superiors were slaughtered. Screams and fire drowned out the sickening sound of flesh tearing.

A creature of corruption loomed over him, claws poised to rend him apart.

He had to ask again:

How did this happen?

As he turned his head — his end moments away — he caught sight of the final hologram displaying the disastrous front lines.

He saw one person.

The hero.

or at least his dead body.

A final flicker of realization sparked in Kamrik's eyes.

Then the light was snuffed out like a dying candle.

Claws sheared into his chest.

He was lifted into the air, closer and closer to the creature's open maw.

And his last thought was simple:

"That damn hero got lazy!"

As his life was crushed along with half his body, in those fractured seconds, he made a vow.

If he were given a second chance—

He would be that guy's nightmare.

The last of his life flickered out.

The world faded to black.

Or in this case—

White.
